I just read in the dev notes for the most recent patch that you can now remap controls. I got a glimpse of the game manual that shows the default controls... all I can say is, no wonder these guys don't make PC games. No avid PC gamer would put up with controls as poor as those were. This could have been a potential game ender for me.

I doubt anyone will be able to answer all of these, but if anyone can shed even a hint of light I would be very greatfull.

So, my question is, how well did they add in the keyboard remapping feature?
Can you remap any command/control to any key?
Is it as capable as something like Quake 3 where you can pull up a console and bind any command, alias, macro, etc. to any key?
Does it have a nice UI for keyboard mapping?
Can I save my control set within the game so if I share my computer with another player switching is easy?
Could I email my control set to a friend?

Thanks for any info you guys that have the game can give.

If I remember right, the patch doesn't take effect till a few days from now, so we won't get word from importers till then.

They're setup is SO bad. Who has the move keys on the right side of the keyboard? Talk about awkward game play.

Trying to move my mouse for a view and have my left hand over my right hand trying to use the keys to move.

/anxiety

Im used to using the W for moving forward, the A and D for strifing left or right, and the S key for backing up.

I'm glad that I am not the only one who sees how lame these controls are. My personal keys are edsf, that allows me to have my hand on home row for typing without moving around a lot. wasd is a common layout which is also pretty good, especially compared to the number pad *shudder*.

I really have no idea what the developers were thinking when they put the default movement keys over there, even consoles have movement keys on the left and viewing / camera on the right generaly.

Anyway, the question is still up for anyone that knows, what is the keyboard remapping like?

if it is just being updated for the japanese, wont that mean it will take a while to be updated for us? thats what it has been like in other games... or do minor things like that update at the same time? heh well i guess no one knows since our service hasnt even started yet... but i hope we dont have to wait that long if the controls are as bad as you say they are...

Uh.. Because of the nature of these updates, being that we're playing the same game on the same servers... They'll apply to both versions.

If you switch from the default(mouse-style) setup to the keyboard one, then WASD become the movement keys. It's not really that hard. I think IJKL become camera movement, but I use the arrows for that. Y and N function as the enter and esc keys. Haven't seen the reprogrammable part yet, server updating for the next 5 hours...

Keep us updated please! Great info by the way, it's good to know that at least the movement is wasd, which is way better than number pad. Though, customizable controls are still much preferable.
