summoner or paladin?

I'm planning on playing ff XI with my friend. I want to know if I should become a summoner or a paladin. i am a gulca and i want to be a warrior/ white mage. which one should i be?

if ur a galka be a paladin...and u can level up summoner after...or whatever...u would be alot better paladin then summoner with the galkan race

You don't have to make an advanced job but I would definately suggest a PLD/WAR after you get your WAR/WHM to 30.

Galkans have the highest VIT out of all the races and the highest HP. They make absolutely the best tanks in Final Fantasy XI. Judging by the WAR/WHM I assume you wish to be a tank(provoker) and also a support healer. A PLD is perfect for you. You are able to tank using the best tank class in Final Fantasy XI and a PLD learns White Magic to support heal. Definately sub WAR(which is already at 30 conveniently enough) to use provoke to monsters attack you to make use of that tremendous defense and VIT :)

Galkan PLDs are godly at higher levels ;) They lack a bit of mp to support heal because of their race but they take damage so well so you may not even have to heal that much to compensate.
