My first couple of benchmark scores after I got my RADEON 9600 128mb PRO were:

Low: 4410
High: 3500

But just recently (after a few days) my scores have dropped down to:

low: 4190
High: 3100

Is that normal? Does the benchmark sometimes skip a couple hundred points from it's program off and on? I had no other running programs in the background, and just wanted to make sure that it's a natural thing.

:)

the score come from how well you ran that time

my score also dropped after a few days..unknow reason
seem to give me a higher score if I reboot system wait about 5 minutes then run it
my score run about 3500- 3800....so i feel good about this system and the game

So if your scores over all fix where you like your system to be...then your golden:cool:

It's all windows! Every little thing you change in windows affects gaming performance. If you want a dumb example, here's one.

I noticed that if I have a plug&play monitor driver installed instead of my NEC driver, I get 100 more points in low res. Go figure hehe. Also forcing the refresh rate to 85hz lowers performance too which doesn't make sense since vsync was off. Well anyway, windows blowz!

You know how consoles are optimized and games run better because they don't have a stupid huge OS running in the background, well I think we should have a seperate super stripped OS plainly for gaming on the PC. Instead of booting to the standard OS, one would boot to the stripped gaming OS and choose what game they want to play. That would be nice. Making a different user logon with stripped down settings just ain'g enough if you want the best performance. I know some are doing that but it just ain't worth it as 90% of the OS is still running in the background no matter what you disable :).
