Has anyone besides me noticed there Win2k scores being lower then other peoples scores on here?

Well I was really unsatisfied with my score that I was getting under win2k because I saw people with comparable systems scoreing much higher then me and the only thing I could figure out was that they where running WinXP. So I decided to test out by install WinXP on a new drive and compairing the difference.

Heres my system:
Athlon XP 2400+
768 PC2100 DDR RAM
GeForce4 Ti 4200 (oc to 323/595)

Here is my results for High Resolution: (AA = 4XS AF = 8X and Texture Sharpening on)

Win2K: 2256

WinXP: 2745

I was amazed that the operating system would make that much difference. Now this was a clean WinXP instalation vs. a 3 month old Win2k instalation but that should not account for a 500 point difference in Benchmark scores. Low Resolution had similar result but I didn't bother to write down scores since I plan to run in High Res.

Looks like I've found me a new operating system.

Win2K is NOT a gaming OS. It is a great OS, I had it for a long time, but at the time I wished games would run better on it.

WinXP along with Win98 are the best for gaming. Some people think 98 is better and definitely is for older systems as it uses WAY less memory. Still anyone using win98 over winxp is an idiot, there I said it :). I have experience with almost every microsoft operating system since windows 2.0, that includes even server editions of some OS', and by far WinXP is the most stable and user friendly. WinXP is even more stable than Win2K and has the gaming performance of Win98, what the heck more can you ask for?
