I went to EB today and preordered my copy for FFXI...I wanted to clarify that the game was coming out on Oct.28th, but they said no, it wasnt, and that it is coming out Nov.15th, they said that oct.28th is when the beta ends.....i was soooo furious, and i want to post this on here to see what ppl thinkm of this! has anyone else preordered in person at eb? and when did they say the game was comin out..? thanx if anyone can help! :mad: :( :(

Here's the thing, some companys get shipments in late, it happends all the time. Now, while EB may be getting it alittle late, some other stores might be getting it sooner, just shop around abit, EB is not the best gaming store....

I also pre-ordered through EB. Luckily, I know everyone who works at my local outlet personally, so they always hook me up! :) Also luckily - they are (mostly) all well-educated, and dedicated gamers themselves, so... I look forward to picking up my PC version on Oct 29th. I can't fathom how/why you guys had so much problems with dumb people - it says pickup date is the 29th right on their computers when they work up the pre-order. .. .

Also, with the preorder at gamestop.com, if you get in before the 10th of October (I think that was the date), you get free overnight shipping and a free mousepad ( I'm not sure if the mousepad comes with the game automatically or if Gamestop does that).

Out of the many years I've been ordering from there, I have only had one problem with release dates, and that was because of the 9-11 incident, which downed the planes for a while. Other than that, I've had 0 problems about getting my games in on time.

Though I haven't preordered yet (waiting for pay day) I really dont mind that they push it back a few weeks, By all means go ahead, here my reason.

I've been playing Star Wars Galaxies since launch, and well this game has a similar story to FFonline, Big project, 3 years in the making suposed to be a great MMORPG. Well to put it Bluntly SWG is a Beta that shouldn't of gone gold. Dont get me wrong its a good game but there was SO much that they could of fixed and added to it if they would of waited a month or two then released it. In fact i would of prefered that they waited, they would of fixed alot of the bugs and added some of the good fetures to it. So here I am stuck PAYING for Beta 4, and yes i was one of the few saying "God release it already!"

So bassically what im trying to say is if they have to hold back for a few weeks for something, go ahead, it will fix more problems than it will cause. We might have to wait a bit longer but look at it this way, the majority of you have said youve waited years for this, whats another month or two?

but your missing the fact that the game is not in developement stages, the NA release is more or less a translated version. the only difference is the text is going to be english not japanese. i really doubt there are any critical bugs to fix at this point, after all the game has been out a year or more in japan.

That happened to me as well, but I corrected him and bid he to recheck. He found out it was indeed october 29, since 28 is the shipping date. He said sorry...and gave me my mouse pad.

God point Xedgex, But still translation can create bugs as well, if it was simple mattter of just translating then it might be out already, but you can create ALOT of giltches by changing even the slightest thing.

Still I stand strong saying no problem with changing realease dates, not that its a big thing.

IF you Pre Order from EB, you get a mouse pad correct? Do they give you the mouse pad the day you order? or the day you pick it up? ritalin23, u r right. a lot of salesperson don't know jack shxt about their products. they don't even do their "homework" to get familar with their products. seems like they are just going there and day dreaming. luckly reps in the ebgames shop i went to know clearly when will FFXI be released. i asked him "when will it be released?" he told me"ps2 ver. is next year in feb.(i preordered b4 sqaure changed the release date to march) and pc is by the end of the october. which is the 29th. but there is always a chance that publisher will chancge the date." well, just calm down...u will see more "day dreaming" sales-rep in the future......and good luck on your preodering..

by the way, i'm guessing that the mouse pad will have some kinds of FFXI pics on it..i'm not sure..but hoepufly there is some ffxi pics on it..not "ebgames etc etc" or "game stop etc etc"..then i would be disappointed a big time... why is square giving out mouse pads?? mouse pad doesn't look like a decent promotional iteam...especially for the most anticpated game.. i would rather to have a ffxi t-shirt or a taru doll.......:(

Same release dates, and the mouse pad has Final Fantasy XI based designs. Besides, they always have to do with the product, like with Tactics and such. I'm just waiting until the 28th....I always get my copy on the shipping day...not the next day. How? Well you figure they have it that day, as it's the day they get it to put on shelfs the next day. geeze people. most retailers will start to sell the game from in store on the 29th of oct. thats pretty set unless you see it announced otherwise on Squares main page.

also, the game has NOT taken 2 1/2 years to translate. it came out in japan in May of 2002 for the PS2 and in November of 2002 for the PC. AT best, its a year and a half if you base the release date on the PS2 version and compare it with our PC version. If you compare strictly PC, then its been just about 1 year. This includes the fact that we are ALSO getting the expansion set with it, not just the base game. If you want to complain about game release dates, try and buy a game from Blizzard. they dont even have to translate.

All I can say is that I ordered mine from Gamestop online. I am going to get the mousepad (no clue on what it will look like), the game (of course) with its first month free which all MMORPGs seem to have anymore, and free overnight shipping (really pays off for me since I live in the country).

From what i understand, you get the free mousepad when you pick up your pre ordered copy. You dont get it the actual day you pre order. ;)

And with internet orders, you'll probably get it in the package somewhere. Atleast its always been that way when i pre order online.

Working in a somewhat of a retail store. Blockbuster gets it's movie shipments and game shipments in a week before release date. I'm sure that EB and other retail stores also do the same ^_^.

Also, you'll get your mousepad when it comes in. Square Enix want's to get a hint on the preorders so that they can produce as little overflow as they can to minimize loss on money.

I work at gamestop on the East Coast, and we dont get our games a week early, hehe. Technically, we get them a day late. For example, the release/ship date for PC FFXI is Oct 29th, but we wont get it until the 30th, since it takes a day to ship. Some games we do get same day, like GTA, Madden, etc etcm but not FFXI, especially computer. We never get Computer games On ship date.

ok correct to the blockbuster person, BB does not get games a week earlier, just movies(in fact they usually don't get games till the friday afterwords, I know this because I was a BB manager)

NOT ALL EBs GOT THE MOUSE PAD. I currently work for EB and know this for a fact that stores in my district did not get mouse pads unless they had a certain number of preorders at some point(don't know exactly when).

Also as with all free gifts you get for preorders from any store, it's while supplies last, and I can guarentee it says that on the advertisement too, so you might never get the mouse pad.(this really erks me, I've worked for Game stores for 3 and half years and hate it when people demand there free gift, even though there the 300th person to preorder and we only got 15 total)

sorry if I sound angry, it's 3 and half years of video game retail rage building up.
