View Full Version : Future Jobs - FFTA Style!

Here's an interesting twist on a familiar topic.

In FFXI, we've seen classes from FFV and FFT implemented, as well as some semi-originals (PLD and DRK, though they were seen in FFIV's Cecil). We all like to speculate on what jobs Square might add from old favorites like FFT, but very few have ever mentioned FFTA in such discussions.

So, basically, what classes from FFTA do you think would fit well into FFXI?

I'd like to see a Shapeshifter (a.k.a. Morpher) class added. Kinda like BST but with a twist ... might make for some interesting combos. A Juggler class would also be fun in an off-beat sort of way.

Gunner seems iffy at first because Rangers now have the monopoly on guns, but then we all thought Warriors were tops were spears until Dragoon came along ... Gunners would probably be a popular class.

Fencer is simple and doable, and Sniper seems like a possibility as well. They could have passive abilities to boost accuracy, etc. ...

We definitely won't be seeing any of Mog Knight without playable Moogles, and it seems that all the abilities of a FFTA Sage have already been given to the other FFXI mage classes. But how about a Templar? They are the "anti-Mages," and having such a class could make things interesting.

Post your thoughts! Be creative, maybe we'll get somebody to write up a speculative ability list just like the good old days when Tazirai did Blue Mage and Time Mage ...

I would like to see Blue Mage and Illusionist make the game and also assassin

my LvL 50 Blue Mage/Illusionist has
>Turbo MP
>Damge to MP
>Immunity From Magic

he's untouchable by mages and melee classes have a real dis-advantage to him once I use matra magic ... if I could use these advantages in FFXI that would own ... cant wait for the other expansions to come out ... plus I really love the Illusionist Magic my person attacks like 3 or 4 times before the opponet can attack once by that time there dead because all I have to do is use 2 Illusion spells that damages everybody

plus Blue Mages were my favarite class im shocked they didnt put it in FFXI

New Jobs would boost sales of the next expansion quite a bit, so I'm optimistic about getting new Jobs. I just don't think many are viable.:(

My wish list for new Jobs is Geomancer/Elementalist, Blue Mage, and Dancer. And since I'm in love with the Vierra, Fencer as well. Or just add Rapier Skill, and give Red Mages A in it.

What can I say? I like rapiers....

Necromancers would be cool (not EQ style where u only get one skeleton) I think you should be able to get more skeletons (higher the lvl, the more u can get) but they wont be the strongest things. The golems should be the strongest and should have sorta Diablo II style where there is clay, blood, iron, and fire. and even have ice, and maybe electric. Shapeshifter would be amazing too. It could morph into an enemy (not any enemy of course) and have a bonus in stats and the moves it has and use em as your own. I think Auras should be added into the game too (people in ur party around u would get your aura. maybe some will consume mp, some wont)

They should do a Divine Knight Class!!! Then we can like break the enemies armor and that'll be cool! Wait..... but it'll be dangerous if there's PVP with Divine Knight job cuz all ur equipmenW will break!!! But stil... it cud be fun:)

 So much for the "FFTA" part of this thread ... lol  there's some good ideas going around though. I actually had an idea for a "Writer" class that I'll flesh out if I have the time. (Myst fans will find the concept oddly familiar ^_^) Not sure about Divine Knight, don't those abilities already belong to Warriors / Knights / Soldiers?

I think pretty much any job is viable. Even Sorcerer (a.k.a. Gladiator) has been shown to work despite the Red Mage's preexisting weapon enchantments. Heck, I'm sure there's even a way to implement a Berserker, although it'd be pretty weird ...

The Alchemist class of FFTA might be an answer to the ongoing debate about the viability of FFXI Chemists. Just give them a 2x item power ability, maybe increase item capacity a bit, and give them a skillset consisting of abilities that *resemble* Chemist mixes without actually consuming items. Or maybe consuming items and MP ... ?

After using it more, I've concluded that Juggler would be a kickass job. Hoop, Molotov Cocktail, Toss ... it'd be pretty awesome. Like a Ranger only less expensive and with an emphasis on status effects.
