These questions have been answered before :sweat: but I'm still kind of hazy on them so...

What would be best for a DRG sub? DRG/SAM, DRG/WAR, or DRG/THF?

These three seem to be the most useful(but if I'm way off base by all means tell me! :))....I was thinking theif because of the dex but if someone could tell me the pros and cons of all of them and what would work best I'd appreciate it...
I'm going to probably be an Elvaan DRG if that makes a difference...

Oh!One more thing...I realize the wyvern does certain things depending on what you sub but which of their abilities seem the best?Healing, all purpose, or offensive(is the offensive any good?)?

Hmm, lets see.

DRG/WAR:

Pros:

extra strength, berserk ability, double attack at level 50.

Cons:

Berserk's recast time is 5minutes, too long. Your WSes won't hit as hard as sneak attack would allow them to, meaning multi hit WSes wont be as effective. For example, you will always get 24TP with sneak attack+double thrust, and hit very hard, but with warrior sub, you're lucky to hit hard, and can only get 12TP back, if any at all. Less DEX than THF sub.

DRG/SAM:

Pros:

you can rape penta thrust at 60+, and even renkei by yourself. Basically a TP whore, with Store TP and TP accumulate.

Cons:

Again, no sneak attack or that level 30 thief ability which I have no idea what it is called in English (damasiuchi), so not all your WSes will be effective, but remember you can still do alot more WSes than Thf sub. Less DEX than THF sub, Only worth using at 60+ for TP accumulate.

DRG/THF:

Pros:

Because I'm one ;) jking, but sneak attack+WS= ouch. You're ensured of maximum TP when combined with Double Thrust, and I've gotten maximum TP with Penta alot of times (not all the time though), good accuracy (better than other subs atleast). Evasion up, if you get some hate, you can dodge a few attacks before getting a chance to reset hate.

Cons: less STR, no Double attack (tho im not going to lose sleep over it), cant think of anything else, I'll let hamster dish out the pain on my sub :)

Pain? Oh no, of course not :) THF is a very good sub for DRG for the very reasons that Razz mentioned. I think that wondering what the is the best sub between WAR, THF, and SAM is not quite the point. All three are very good subs. The different qualities that each sub brings to DRG make each one suitable for different situations.

I think i'll try out SAM or THF (see which one suits me better). How should i start out building up?

WAR to 18
thf/war to 30
then drg/thf or sam?

or maybe
thf to 18
war/thf
drg/thf or sam?

I guess what would help me most to eventually become DRG/SAM but have the option of THF just incase when I start out I decide differently....

I'm going warrior, Thief caused me way too much trouble in the beta... *Extremely hard to lvl up at some certain lvls*

Namely.. 9,12,16,and 18 (Still at 18...):sweat: but that's just me..

The road to the high level dragoon.

Start a warrior 1-18
Complete sub job quest
Level thief to 15
Level warrior to 30
Complete dragoon quest
Level dragoon to 60
Level Sam war and thief to 35 to sort out your sub jobs till 70.

If you want to be a Dragoon/Thief on the way to 60 reverse warrior with thief.

I think this is the best way to do it. This gives you the most flexibility you can have from your dragoon. This isn't easy to do at all. However if you do it you'll be a top class dragoon.
