Can you make bows your main weapon?

I just started playing around with archery and is there anyway to get around clicking on distance attack then click on the monster?

click on the monster (F8 should select the closest mob to you) and hit ctrl+d - ctrl+d is the shortcut for shooting/throwing

you cannot make bow your main weapon so u can attack with it only..it can only be your sub..
