Hey all! In your opinion do you think people should join numerous Link Shells or only join one. I cant seem to set my mind on this topic. On one hand its nice to be in a group to communicate with your friends, but on the other thats what you have a friend list for... You know what I mean? It kinda seems like Link Shells should be the kinda thing you only join one of since you can only have one equiped, and if your LS needs you then you should be on to answer. You know kinda like a brother hood, kinda, sorta?
Let me know what you all think, please no flaming in this thread, keep it clean...
I ask because I want to make an LS that demands the members stay on for each others sake... Bad idea, good idea????

I personally have 3 Linkshell's...there isn't anything bad about having more than one. It's good to have that many.

To me a LS is the same thing as a guild in EQ. I agree I think that you should only join one and actually they should have made it where you can only join one and therefore if you wanna join another one, you have to destroy the first LinkPearl b4 joining the next LS.

I see it as like a religion yannow, you have one that you follow, you cant be like "im christian and im buddist too" that just doesnt make siense. it depends, i say do what you want. me though, im a one ls man. lol
So if you could only join one LS.....
How would you fight HNMs?
Hopefully some importer could answer that question.

The validity of having multiple LSes depends on the situation. If you join LSes simply for the sake of chat then it's okay to be in as many as you want. Sometimes you have to be in more than one in order to stay in contact with all your friends. Having people on your friendlist can only help so much since all it does is tell you if they're online or not. You will still have to /tell them individually if you want to talk to them and it gets tedious without a proper LS channel which everyone can use to communicate with at the same time.
However, if you're in five different LSes that require you to be close-knit due to rivalry with other LSes (such as NM-hunting LSes) then there's a problem.

hee hee if you look to the left under my details you will see that i have alot of LS'es. thing is most of my ls sevre a purpose. I dont see naything wrong with multiple LS , but becareful about beiong on too many at a tiem.
Ill describe my LS'es and you tell me what you think.
IMT: the very first LS i ever joined. Its an all english LS even though we have japanese members they mainly speak english when on IMT and have other LS pearls.
this is home to me.
Omega successors, MY very first japanese LS , I spend alot of time on this LS. this LS has helped me improve my japanese and also I have helped improve soem members english skill. This LS is very small maybe 20 members now. I have let in other friends BUt me and you have to be really cool for me to do that. I am my LS ambassador, meaning I act as a translator for any english member I let in or to communicate things to friends. from this LS. Most everything I learned about RDM at higher levels I learn from hiroki senpai.
BAstok questing knights: Is an LS specifically for doign quests and BCNM,NM,HNM, and AF and what not. members of this LS i know from all over. Most in other LS.
This LS is complicated as we only get together for questing and such. we are all on each others friends list so that akes it easier.
Onion knights Not a LS i join in very much , I may get rid of LS pearl since my alt is bag holder there. But is a LS for new japanese players and they are trying to get some english members.
dragon devils: This is such a fun LS as you can take from the names, We are all dragoons basically.
This LS gets together alot and arliano senpai is my LS leader here and helps with dragoon sj questions. he speaks english. We usuaaly get together and ransack for conquest . The goal of this LS is to get everyone dragoon af and defeat all dragon type monsters. no matter if BCNM or any otehr type of NM,
Crystal guardians , an offshoot LS of IMT lead by kelenae the super mod.
This is how i spend most time. IMT/Omega 50% each.
dragon devil only when using dragoon sj.
Bastok questing as stated in title. the others only rarely.
So if your LS serve a purpose its fine , But if they are just chat rooms , thats okay also its up to you .

I would prefer to have many specific-types of link shells. Perhaps one with your friends and another for those people who are trying to raise their craft skills (get recipes, advice, etc.). Link shells are just giant chat rooms :p

OK, but see this is where i am coming from: If you join say three LS's cause of friends then yeah its cool to be able to talk to those people in a so called "chat room" but as we all know throughtout the game you make friends that arnt always friends with your other friends and now that you want to talk to that friend you have to switch linkpaerls so you can talk to another group of people. Once you do this your last linkshell of friends cant reach you by linkshell chat anymore, so they just have to tell you anyway. You know what i mean? I'm in four in Beta: Highlanders, Lightwarriors, and The Nanten Knights, and the Zodiac Braves. So friend chat is tough, I end up missing what on group is talking about when i switch and then I get two of the LS's asking me to join them to party and stuff and i'm torn:(
So I would have to say that I agree with Irinicus, its a pain to use tells to communicate though:mad:
Anyway thats my two cents:thumbsup:

I was in one and left because they tried to make it all guild-like and it sucked. Now I just have one with about 8 people and we just chat. The only reason I'd join more than 1 is if I have tons of friends in another... or if I was a high level :(
