I just have a few questions, which may or may not be very common so bear with me :handsdown

1. What's the suggested sub job for Dragoons? I've read that you should sub warrior but I'm not sure.

2.Dragoon is a job fromt he expansion right? So will it be available during the first NA release?

3. Dragoons are basiccally melee characters with pet dragons right?

4. Lastly, what job should I choose when I'm starting out that will set me up the best for dragoon.

1. Warrior would probably be the best. Monk and Thief are okay also, and Samurai is good past 60.
2. Yes, the expansion comes with the NA version.
3. I'll leave this to Cobbi.
4. Whatever your subjob is going to be.

3 - This all depends on your subjob <^ ^> Since the wyvern has three modes avaliable to you, dragoons can be quite versitile. For parties, most likely you will be just that: a melee with a wyvern, if you choose. However, in some situations you can get away with using one of the wyvern's other modes: all-purpose and healer, to good effect. If for example you are fighting an NM that enjoys doing status effects on your whole party, you could sub a mage job and save your WS until status effects have been laid out. Then pull off the WS, and your wyvern will do Heal Breath, taking care of those nasty ailments without making the mages take a break from healing to individually cure every member.

So yeah, length explanation. In parties, yes you will just be a melee with a wyvern. But Dragoons have the potential to be much more if you experiment.

Warrior should be leveled in case You you dont have a taunter in the PT.
BUt I use Rdm primarily for all my sub jobs

2.Dragoon is a job fromt he expansion right? So will it be available during the first NA release?

Yes

No dragoons are the melee versoin of the rdm, They are very versatile with the types of subs they can take.
Square did a good job with this class. You just have to know how to play and what type of PT you are getting into.

4. Lastly, what job should I choose when I'm starting out that will set me up the best for dragoon.
If you are unsure what to play then I suggest warrior fo ryou , rdm kinda takes a while to get used to and then you will need to be versatile enough to taunt and be able to heal and remove statuses from the PT with wyvern breath.

So raise war first to get that to a point where you can sub it effectibely then try rdm .
RDM is versatile enough to fit into any class.
as a sub

Any real benefits from having a BLM subjob as a dragoon?

It has been stated before... So here we go again, OK, you if you sub a mage class, you have to sit down to get your magic back but if you sit down, your TP goes down. So most warrior/melee don't sit down, they stand. So what is it going to be, sitting or standing?? Please choose one or the other, don't be indecisive like my girlfriend.
