View Full Version : Question about reformating and reg codes
My Brother, who has BA in Comp sci and working on his MA in the same field, says that I need to reformat my Hard drive within the next couple months. I am all find and dandy with that, but I have one concern. I know that my account is saved and all on POL and all you have to do is put some of the old info you used again and you will be able use POL and FFXI again after installing again and dowloading the patches. But what about the expaintion. Would I have to reregistrate it again or is that all saved in my POL account?

If you have your information written down to a paper, there must be no problem in formatting and re-install.
After the re-install of POL you will need :
POL ID
POL Password
Mail Address
Mail password
When you run POL for the 1st time it will attempt to register a new account. After the contract screen there will be a screen with two big buttons and the install guide say to click on the upper one. Click on the lower one if you already made a account before. Then it will ask for POL ID and password then will close POL.
As you log on POL will check for updates and download them.
After POL is fully updated, install FFXI. The 1st time you try to play FFXI will download it's updates.

After FFXI is all updated, should I then reinstall the expainsion?

If you bought the expansion upgrade seperately from the game, then you MUST patch POL Viewer and FFXI to the latest version before installing the expansion. Failure to do so may cause you to reinstall the whole thing again while trying to purge the mis-patched files.
