A rough translation:
Recently, there are reported sightings of a huge mysterious creature near Windurst, SanDoria and Bastok!
According to the witnesses, upon touching an ancient flag, they were attacked by a mysterious creature that they have never seen before. All countries' government plan to solve this mystery without causing a revenge from the beast tribes.
Event start time:
8/16/2003 19:00
- Upon doing "something" from a target area, you will receive permission for the event.
- Permission has a time limit. Permission can be regained upon fulfilling the requirements again.
- There is a level cap for this event.
- There will not be any exp loss if you are killed by the mysterious creature. However you will still suffer exp loss if you are killed by the creature when you don't have permission.
- It is verified that this creature does not hold any item drops. Therefore, with help request on, this creature can be killed by multiple parties and alliances. Adventurers, please help us kill this creature. :)

It'll probably be a King Behemoth with a level 20 cap... the event lasts as long as the monster ;)

Ok, this is what my JP freind told me today but she also stressed it is only rumor at the moment.
- Level Cap of 20
- The enemy is Diablo
- The reward is a Vana'diel Knecklace with stats of DEF 0, CHR+5, Walking Speed +15%, Lv20, All jobs.
- Only 100 of these will be sent out among all servers and it will be determined by the 100 highest damage to it (I was a little confused on this bit - amazing English, not perfect ^^; )

Where on earth do rumours like this originate? I guess if it's true my BLM is good to go - still got my level 20 cloak with the +INT stats. Just have to buy some +INT pies :)
....or is everyone gonna go crazy raising DRK and RNG before then? :P

Hmm, I guess there will be 4000 people on each server, 19 servers? 3 Diablos for each. It's about a 1 in 7,600 chance of getting it. Id say there will be about 1000 people per Diablo. 10$ your PS2 or PC will blow up before you even see it....My money is on the RNGs. DRKs can?ft do Darkness. THFs probably could sneak attack and get high damage that way but not much overall damage. BLMs may have a chance...this should be interesting.
I?fd say the best way you can win is PTing with a high level brd, smn, and rdm while you accept the event and do it at level 20. Of course those level 70's couldn?ft participate and maybe win the prize but they could do a deal maybe all working together for 1 person to get it and sell it and split the price (if it?fs not rare+ex). If you?fre a fighter, gets all those attack+acc buffs from the BRD. Attack+Haste buff from the SMN and other things. If you?fre a blm, get the ballad1+2 from brd, refresh from the rdm, haste and stuff from the smn. If you we?fre to cheat, I would believe that would be the best way.
Most likely a bunch of 70?fs will come along and rape the thing. They can probably still hit since it says you will loose exp if you tamper with it and not accept the event.

Well, that gets me thinking...
I can't see how they can set the level cap at 20 and allow other people to attack. If so, the event would be meaningless. What is tough to 50 lv20 players would be soloable to a lv70. I don't think that's workable... either that, or there will be a ton of these monsters. Obviously the people who don't enter properly won't get a shot at the prize, if it is as the rumour suggests.
Doesn't it state that the creature does not hold any item drops?
Im sure it will be like the other events (moogle hunt, moogle stat thingy) where u got the moogle belt and chocobo wand. Im sure the monster ALONE will hold no direct drops but there may be a prize for most dmg or w/e... assuming this rumor is true.
