Jobs that can use magic (the mages, paladins, dark knights etc) don't aquire the magic through levelling up. So becoming a level 2 BLM won't get you a spell. The spell needs to be obtained through quests, the auction house, shop, trading or whatever and learned. However, different spells have different levels you need to be to learn them.

cool cool that sounds alot more fun then just automatically getting them
Thank you for responding
Actually i heard its better to Buy yor spells at the shop then the auction because its safer.

Well, there'll always be shops that won't have a certain type of magic, so its good to check the AH, just also good to know the usual price of the spell you're looking for, just so you don't get ripped off :spin:

The AH is your friend, meet it, learn it, love it. If you are from Bastok is it really worth it to buy your cure 2 for 1200 from a shop in windhurst or 1500 from the AH? The boat ride in this example will cost you 100 gil. Meaning that if you're only purpose in going to windhurst is to save money, you only save 200 gil for that kind of trip. Not worth it IMHO. Especially since I usually make that trip as a group and you never know what can happen on that kind of trip, especially at low levels or with ghost pirates, if you're not careful.

most spells you buy. there are a few that you must do a quest or something for, but its definately not the majority...
