How useful and a Wyvern really be?

Just a question I mean do these little guys help out? I mean do they hit hard or just useless?

Your Wyvern can do one of two different things depending on if your sub job is melee or Mage. However, looks like I'll be he first to say with a melee sub job, their breath will do quite a bit of damage.

i heard a Wyvern has the attack speed and the attack power of a one hand sword, which isn't really all that bad. There Breath attacks are a bit more powerful though.
