There are three main steps involved in the patching process. The first is file checking, the second is the actual downloading of files, and the third is installing. The reason why you saw the 0/5000 count twice is because the first was a file check and the second was the downloading.

The beta took about an hour to do the update patches for me. But I did notice in the download phase it did download some of the same named files and in the install patch did the same thing. does like the mcaffee virus scan downloads each part of the patch to the current version. Sucks.

Soon I will have 26mbit are there any approx on the time of that cuz I really dont wanna wait 4 houers!
It really depends on what the connection is.
A typical cable or Dsl line is between 100 and 400 mbps. but if you have a connnection thats always on it will be much faster then a phoneline.

The main reason it takes so long is because your copy is basically from when the game was released and you have to DL every single updating patch since then. I too am on cable and it took me nearly 2 and a half hours to finish them all. This was before the expansion was released though.

All of you need to stop whining, patches took me over 20 hours when I first got the game, consider yourselves lucky.(Import version)

My Beta took about 40 minutes to download and install all of the updates using a rather crappy cable connection. Maybe it's just the Import, as you probably have to download the files from Japan. You should just let it update over night or while you're at a movie or something.
Or wait for the NA version. ;)
