View Full Version : Solution for Gil Problems?

This is my first post and I would like to share some info with everyone (mostly soon-to-be rangers).

This is plainly an idea and I don't have the beta nor the imported versions of this game, and the data I use is from the many FAQs on the web and two movies made by Ping.

(Note: This idea works best with Taru Taru or Humes but any other race is possible)

Ok, you start out by making your character's job a White Mage and level it up to level 9 through a series of PTing and soloing. Next, switch your job as a Black Mage and level it up to 18 the same way, finish the sub-job quest (if you haven't already) and White Mage as the sub-job. Keep leveling up until your black mage job is at level 25 (don't worry about the white mage, as long as it's in the double-digits, like 11 or 12). And don't forget to learn the G-water, G-stone and the G-Aero spells. This is when the fun part begins.

First, check if there's anyone nearby (as far as your camera can see) and start when there's nobody in sight. Look for a large group of monsters lower than your level_____________and start building a mob-train. Hopefully, there will be a long gap between you and the monsters so use the G-spells on the enemies (G-Water would be recommended for fire opponents, and G-Stone for the lightning opponents if they're weaker than G-Aero). After a few casts, the monsters should be dead and collect everything they've dropped. If you want to take on another train without resting or you run out of MP and the train is still alive, activate Magic Pool (but activate it after the train is formed, it only lasts a minute).

Next, go back to the city you came from (or the nearest city) and walk up to those "auctioning booths" and auction off any rare, unneeded items off and sell the rest at the normal prices. This should give you a bunch of money and exp as well. During the 2 hour period that the Magic Pool should restore in, switch your job to the Thief job and PT and solo and whatever you can get EXP with as long as you use Steal and the job quality Gil Steal to increase your money reserves (sell the items you steal as well).
Once 2 hours have passed by or when you're ready, switch back to Black Mage/White Mage and do the same mob-train killer tactic and etc. etc. until your Thief is at level 30 (may take a while, but you'll have a butt-load of cash in the end) and make your character Thief/White mage (or vice versa if you leveled up a lot, and you plan to go with a party of Ranger-to-be's) and Complete the Ranger quest. (All you have to do is wait for some saber-tooth to die?? Boring but not too risky:biggrin: ).

So there you have it, a way to have a large stockpile of Gil before you get the Ranger job-class. Plus, if you want to, you can use this strategy over and over again to give yourself a boost once in a while (but have a Ranger/Thief coupling instead of just Thief).

This concludes my idea.

Note: It may be possible without White Mage, but you'll have weaker magic with your Black Mage and you'd have to rest longer and more often with the Thief.

Note: I gained this information while walking around today and remembering about the movie with Ping killing all of those Quadav, but I'm not sure what their comparative levels were to him.

Note: If you have any suggestions, corrections, or advice, feel free to post them.

Note: If your mages level up and you can purchase a new G-Spell, by all means buy it and learn it so you could have an easier time with the stronger mobs. Also, the only needed white magic is the Cure set of spells, but you can do whatever you want with your money.

I hope that's all.

im not too sure that will work. If it were that easy to kill monsters and get gil, there'd really be no use to partying now would there? Good idea, but I don't see how that will work out.

Well, All I need to know is what comparative level Ping was in the movie to all of those Quadav and If I'm incorrect then I'll adjust my strat a bit (he might've been fighting lower level monsters but I didn't know of the names reflecting upon monster levels until recently).

If he was fighting lower level monsters, I'll adjust my main post. But I can't prove it for now since I'm too lazy to download DivX.

For the purpose of parties, I need this proven: If a party engages in battle, does everyone get exp automatically, or does the exp depend on the activeness of the character? (i.e. Joe and 5 friends fight, he stands away from the fight while his friends finish off the monster, does he get exp or not?)
But this strat may work well for a party if you follow this scenario:
You are following my strategy, but you're currently in a party looking for some extra "dough" and you tell them of my strategy and you adjust it a little. After every train, a select person gets to wreep the goods. After everyone has decided (be kind and ask to be last...), have the PT tank lure out the monsters. Once they are in range, do not activate Mana Pool. Cast a Protect spell on the tank and have the party ambush the train and cast as many G-spells as you can until the train dies out (hopefully nobody should've died, make sure you heal that tank from time to time). Repeat for every member and go back to town on a selling spree :)

And if you run out of MP, try to rest or anything similar to that, and cast a cure spell on the tank if you have to.

Like I said, as I gain more info from you guys, I'll adjust the strat as neccesary.

I'd just start woodworking and make my own arrows and bows... that sounds simple enough.

hmm.... i think that's 1 way to do. nothing wrong.

weak enemies drop cheaper items. kill many many weak enemies for a lot of drop is 1 way to go.

stronger enemies drop more expensive items. but of course take more time to kill and you won't get as many items as from the weak ones.

so in the end they both work imo..... and as you become stronger, more and more stronger enemies will become weak to you, too...

Ok, thanks to Jei and the re-view of the Ping video on Gil Farming, I'll fix the following:

"Look for a large group of monsters at your level and start building a mob-train."

Will be Changed to:

"Look for a large group of monsters lower than your level (but still be able to gain EXP) and start building a mob train."

And activating Mana Pool will be executed if 1. You run out of MP on the train you're currently fighting, or 2. If you're out of MP and you want to take on another train.

and I will remove the following:

The question about auctioning booths. On the Ping video, the booth was called the "Auction Counter".

And I'm not enforcing this on anyone, if anyone wants to try it, have a go, but I'm not responsible for your char's "accidental" deaths. I simply want to do this to avoid complicating myself with arrow recipes (and quests for gathering the items). And plus, since I will have little time to play this game during school (I'm hoping for free weekends and vacations...), I'm posting this to make the guide foolproof (at least most of it).

If anyone has suggestions such as race specific attempts to accomplish this, ask and I might include it (But I'll have to do some research first).

no no : (

NEVER ever train enemies that still give you exp. for black mages (and other job too) at level above 20, even the weakest enemy that still give EXP will require a lot of effort to kill and with some risk risk involve. that's the reason why no one really solo after 20 at all.
Especially black mages, your HP and defense is at minimum.... training let's say 2 weakest enemies that still give you EXP = you dead...

Hm....I see...Thanks Jei, this is one of the reasons why I posted this. Ok, I'll adjust the original post again. You can mob-train the monsters that give you no exp at all. But, I want to ask you something:if you build up a level and a group of monsters suddenly don't give you any exp, is it ok to mob train them now, or is it better to mob-train even weaker monsters?

I need at least that to "safely" change the post(for now I'll put in a big black line).
