I'll get right to the point, im not sure I understand how blm's elemental attack work vs. specific monsters. I know the ""weaknesses"" (earth vs thunder, water vs fire)... but thats about it. I dont know how the other elements come into play. For instance, yesterday I was in a PT in battalia, fighting tigers (thunder element). The other blm in the PT was consistenly casting Thunder1.... and hitting for 100+ everytime. (Btw i could only hit a max of 90 w/ it, guessing cuz hes a taru?) Now am I missing something? Is casting the same element supposed to be effective? How do the other elements on the chart some into play? Its just been something that has been bugging me.. because i was under the impression that casting the same element was a nono.
Thanks in advance for any answers you could give me

When you're a low level, it's not so much about strategy. Thunder is way more powerful than any of the other level 1 elemental spells, and that's why it gets more use. There is also less difference between elemental defense in monsters at lower levels.
Everything starts to make sense when you get to higher levels, believe me :) That's when the jobs become more unique, the enemies become more element-specific and tactics play a big part in fighting.

Makes sense, hehe. It was just confusing because the mage was rank9(i figured he knew what he was doing), and casting it every single battle. ^^; Alright then, thanks jon!

Look at Jonnyram all level 50, when did this happen?
At hgher level when magicis resisted it really hurts, a lot :(
like stone 3... I can sometimes hit the enemy without being resisted for 270+ damage. When resisted, 20-40 damage :( that's a lot of MP spent for nothing...
