how to do Reneki/ Skill chain

ok I have been trying to do this with a group of friends and have had little success on a constant basis. What exactly is the concept behind this? I know you do one weapon skill, followed by another, and so on. But how close do the weapon skills have to be to each other? Is there a certain order?

Go check the Strictly In-Game Talk forum. There's a sticky there with a Renkei chart :P Just pick a skill, then follow the arrows until you hit a double arrow, which is a ending skill.

ah thanks. I pretty much understand it all except on the updated chart is seems at lot of the skills have numbers in circles next to them. How do these relate?
i saw at the bottem it has 1-->1 > 1-->2 and such not quite sure what that means though.
