View Full Version : Increasing max framerate?

I used a program called Fraps to see what kind of framerate I was getting. It seems like the game is maxed at 30, or at least defaultly. I was wondering if there is anyway to increase that? Of course, this only applies to PC people.

you can lower your vid cards graphic setting or lower the ingame graphic settings.

Mitey is asking about the 30 fps cap. This is noticed when using a program like FRAPs to measure frame rate, you'll see that the number bounces from 29-30 and never goes above 30, even though it *could*, with a fast enough system. Somehow, internally to the game, the framerate is being capped. This has nothing to do with quality or in-game graphic settings. I don't know how to get rid of the cap...maybe someone else does. Anyone?

this pretty much proves that FFXI was made specifically for the ps2. Since most television run only at 30fps.

Yeah, it was made for the PS2. But I was wondering if there's some file I could modify or something to increase the framerate. Theres gotta be! ...please? :)

why increase it, the human eye can only see 28 fps anyway so why need more than 30? really why???

I wish i knew the facts, but anyone can DEFINITELY see the difference between 100 fps and 30 fps. Someone did explain this to me bout that whole human eye not seeing above 30 or whatever, but it's not really true or somethin. And it's pretty obvious it's not true.

the only thing that I can think a better framerate would cause is better image during lag but that would be about it

i think the 30fps is an average number.... meaning that there are times when it drops below that and u'll see the slowness....

100fps surely hardly drops below our seeing ability

The human eye can see more then 30fs. 30fps is the minimum required to create the illusion of smooth animation when using non interlaced images.

as atma said, the human eye can see higher than 30fps, but most people can't notice small changes in each frame. if you play a lot of visually intensive games, you can see those changes:thumbsup:
counter-strike, unreal turnament, and even ffxi can help you!

i hope there is a way to make the fps higher, why dont u search around the net a bit and try to find something to get a more accurate count of your frames per second. let me know if u find any way to make this higher, or find a better utility.
