Question about error on beta

Well, after about a week of begging one of my friends to give me his beta (I signed him up for it at his house, he didnt even want to sign up but he got accepted and I didnt) he finally broke down and gave it to me. So I go about installing it and I try to start FFXI and I get this error

Terminated as error occurred in FINAL FANTASY XI. Failed to recognize hardware TnL. Please check that this computer has the required specifications to run FINAL FANTASY XI. (-1)

My comp is a Sony vaio P4 1.5gh 256 ram. I'm not sure what videocard I have but im guessing that this is where my problem is. I searched the forums for anybody with the same error. The only thing i could find was this thread

It's in japanese but there is one part in english which is the same as in my error. I am pretty sure this is my problem and I will have to get a new video card. I just want someone to confirm if this is the problem so i dont go out and waste money on a videocard I dont need.

to check on the video card, right click on the desktop and go to the last tab, then click advanced if you don't see what it is right there. make sure that hardware acceleration is turned on too.

if you do have to get a new card, get a ti series card. they do well on the percentage scores and don't cost much.
