Any way to skip PlayOnline?

Is it just me, or is PlayOnline *very* annoying? It requires WAAAAY to many clicks to get from an icon on my desktop to running around in FFXI.

Is there any way to launch FFXI directly, and skip the whole PlayOnline fiasco?

don't think so. i believe you must be connected to the Playonline network to access Final Fantasy XI, Tetra Master, or whatevarr.
