56K FFXI Players?

Are there any 56K players that play FFXI on this board? AND if so can u tell me if there is a lot of lag when u battle? Like when u click on a menu, will the menu pop up like 2 to 3 seconds late after u chose it?

I know it lags a bit in crowded areas but how much?
Any one also plays the BETA with 56k? How does that go? THANX!

I have aol and dial up so I have a double strike and have had next to no lag. Menus pop up just fine for me, 1 to 2 seconds.

Good to hear....i have dialup and i keep sing so many things saying FFXI is broadband only.

Well blackpanther, should go back to those places and let them know they got their info wrong. So maybe they'll correct it and less people are mislead by it.

I've been playing for a little over a week now and the worst lag I have experiences was just a little studder step. Now it might get worse when the game goes live more people sucking up the bandwith.

Been on 56k since ps2 beta started and I haven't had much trouble at all. Some lag pockets every once in a while, but that can happen on broadband also. I think it's more the servers than anything else, cause everyone else feels the same lag when I get mine :P

I mean 56k is okay to play but boradband is highly recomended and no fusses with phone line covered. ^^

I'm glad that 56k causes no lag, although I'm a little bit concerned about my video card's clock speed. (I barely pass the benchmark test, and the clock speed is the only thing even close to minimum specs)

As for clogging the phone, that's what having a dedicated internet phone line is for, isn't it?

I'm using 56k and FFXI seems to work fine with it. There are some lag pockets every once in awhile(no longer than 10-15 seconds), but all in all is pretty stable.

I have no lag what-so-ever, the only time I have a tiny bit of lag is when I go through a town, that has alot of stuff going around...I haven't been in any really big battles as of yet though, so maybe once I get higher lvl it might start to have some, but til then it's peaches and cream

I'm gettin broadband and i cant wait i get it next saterday :) 6 1/2 more days!!

And what is the benchmark test? Im sure ill pass cause i just bought a awsum computer, it was the most expensive there.lol

i will be playing on 56k too......hopefully for only a few weeks:( i've been trying to talk my parents into broadband for 2 years...sigh...i got my beta pack today and i'm going over to the place i work at to use their DSL to download the patch..err i hate dial up

yeah i have 56k and got the beta, and it took me 5 hours to dl all the patches and stuff......man i hgave patience!
