Bastok, Windhurst, and travel between..

My wife and I should be recieving our beta kits in the next week or so courtesy of ATI, and we've already got a fairly good idea of what we're going to start as. Because of that, she'll be starting in Windhurst, I'll be starting in Bastok, and yes we're starting in seperate cities just so we can get our free ring :) . I tried doing a search as I remember a topic about the journey between Bastok and Windhurst but came up empty, it was months ago and it has probably fell off the board.

So first question, how difficult is it to get from Bastok to Windhurst, or Windhurst to Bastok (assuming the same difficulty but you know what assuming does) at low levels, ie below 5ish.

Second question, which would you recommend as the best place of the 2 for a melee/mage combo to work thru the early levels? I assume it's more of a personal preference, as Bastok would welcome mages being a mage-lite area and vice versa with Windhurst and melee but that doesn't take into effect ease of upgrading equipment and spells etc..

It's very hard for any lvl 5 or lower to go to another contry. From Bastok to win, from Win to Bastok... either way, you have to go through tunnel in dunes where lvl 5 could never go through without death. If you are really lucky, there might be ppl who could kill bats in tunnel for you. But if not, it's almost impossible since tunnel is really narrow and those bats are active monsters. If you know somebody who can solo in dunes, ask that person to protect you.

Personally, I recommend you to lvl your character in bastok area. You would wanna start collecting items for sub job around 15 or so, and it's much easier to do sub job quest in selbina than in mahura. But after i got my sub job I always lvl my character in Win since I'm from sandoria (just so i can get more conquest points and i like the items i can get from monsters in Win area^^).
