it's official, samurais are tanking classes. They basically rank third as tanks under pld and war.
How do you know if your job is a taking class?
your artifact adds hate.
Sam AF adds hate :dead:
this is a nother example of why warrior is basically the best subjob for samurai, higher vit and passive defence up.
don't sub thief for backstab, it's dishonorable to attack from behind ; P
and.... there was more I was going to type, but I'm too damn tired from too much ffxi

I've been telling friends the same thing, but some just dont listen :/
they might take it from a samurai himself though =)
What about monks will it be bad?

Hmm. . i may get flamed by other players for saying this but i don't think Monks take physical hits as poorly as others say they do. i find Monks at certain levels against certain enemies take hits as good if not better than myself. Overal though if you plan on going monk i wouldn't really worry about tanking. If you're in a decent PT they'll have the tanking issue covered, you just need to worry about dealing as much damage as you can ;)

davodmmm9 and Nodachi you both make me want to be a Samurai/Warrior more all the time. It sounds like a fun job to be along with warrior as sub.
I wanted to be summoner but only thing is having to sub white mage. I don't see it every exciting to have 30-40 levels of healing people as fun as kicking monster butt. Samurai and Summoner are my two favorite jobs so far on FFXI.
I will definitely import game if its not out November on pc.
Thanks for your input. Its good to hear feedback from actual players.
Well Im going my own path and going to monk and Samurai. I have to be unqie.;)

You would actually be suprised how much fun mage classes can be. there's a lot you have to keep track of and do. generally you get many more abilities and endless amounts of spells to have fun with. Choose what you will choose but don't necessarily scrap the idea of smn/whm just yet.

Yeah the boiled crab meat is good for tankers, but you can also use the onigiri (rice balls) for your tanking needs, right?
The AF gloves have the effect of: ‚¨‚É‚¬‚è‚Ì?^‚Ì–¡‚ª‚í‚©‚é
(Understand the true meaning of rice balls) lol :)
How the heck does someone put on gloves and then all of a sudden achieve nirvana regarding a ball of rice???
Anyway, here are the effects of the onigiri:
‚¨‚É‚¬‚è?@?@HP+10 DEX-1 VIT+2?@–hŒä—Í+12?“(def+12%)?@30•ª(lasts for 30 min)
?ø‚¨‚É‚¬‚è?@HP+10 DEX+2 VIT+2 MND-1 ?UŒ‚—Í+17?“(attack power + 17%)?@–hŒä—Í+12?“(defense power + 12%) HP‰ñ•œ?‰Šú’l+1(HP recovery +1) 1ŽžŠÔ(lasts for 1 hour)

are those with or without the gloves?
or does nothing happen if you eat them with no gloves.

I think you need to be wearing the gloves to "understand the true meaning of rice balls".
I don't know what happens if you eat them without wearing the gloves, or if another job eats them.
As for me, I'd really like to understand the true meaning of buffalo wings someday.

hmm whenever i eat them without gloves my defense only goes up by one. boiled crab meat is best until we get the gloves me thinks. then it's rice ball mochi heaven =D thing i like most about being able to use the riceballs is how cost effective it is. i pay roughly 9-10 k a stack for the crab meat where as the riceballs sell in stacks for like 1.2 k lol - or at least they use to.
