SAM/RDM or DRG/RDM?

Since you have to be a lvl 30 to get advanced jobs, I'll just take my RDM to that so by then I'll at least have all the first lvl elementals and a godd amount of curative magic. I just can't decide which would make a more useful main job DRG or SAM? I think the Wyvern and Jump abilities make the Dragoon very cool. However, I think the Samurai could be a very good main job as well. Please help me decide, or give me your input on the pros and cons. thanks.

I wouldn't suggest making Red Mage as your support job for a frontline job. You can't multi-task in this game. If you start healing you won't be attacking, meaning you won't be building TP for renkei which slows the whole leveling up process.

But, if it was a do or die situation where I was forced to choose SAM/RDM or DRG/RDM, I'd go with DRG since they don't make very good tanks anyway (although taunting would still be nice).

The best thing to do for either one of these jobs is to start off as Warrior and level up your spear skill, so when you change to either Samurai or Dragoon you'll have spear skill maxed out for many levels to come.
