i agree with star realms, for soloing you could pair theif with anything but its not a "me against the world" game so if you want to be an effective bard there is brd/whm or brd/rdm...

I agree with Callous, obviously as a BRD your a healer so WHT would be good, but RDM would also be good because a lot of songs help the party and Elemental weapons may add to that kida helpful job. I think WHM would be better though because you could always switch between them and have which ever healer needed most at the time, where as RDM won't be very sought after at high levels.

well said but rumor has it red mage will be more effective now that the lvl cap has been raised again because now you have more cool spells i might stick with white mage for curaga but redmage is ever more tempting now lol.....

Bah! When is a bard just a healer? I think THF Sub would be great for items, gil, and especially accuracy! Bards have such poor accuracy. Im insulted like a RDM being used only for healing...
