Samurai/Red Mage

I would wondering if a Samurai/Red Mage work I read that Red Mage can enchant weapons with elementals if I am correct, would it work if not how about the other way? and What does Phalanx do i hear its a nice spell but i cant find a post on what it does lol

First of all SAM/RDM is ok in some situations, but truely for party play it's not good. It's been preached so many times that /WAR is the better subjob... always... and only in special occasions would you want to sub RDM. For soloing I think it's ok, but you'll never ever regret using /WAR. People that recruit SAMs expect them to be at their best, being able to do as much damage as possible and able to tank if necessary. You get all that with /WAR, /RDM gives you enchantment spells and curing which are nice, but you can't taunt and resting for MP is not allowed when you're a SAM... master of WS... you NEED to be able to save al the TP you can.

Yeah cast cure on someone watch what happens lol :p I seem to be able to dish out damage pretty well in parties, the enchanted weapons sspells are a good plus too. Im planning on goin the red mage samurai route myself. I do wish i could provoke though :p

Red Mages can't tank at all. When it comes to tanking, we're one step above mages but tens steps below Warriors, Paladins, Samurais, etc.

I know its off the subject but what lvl do you have to b at to get the job red mage.Or is it one of those jobs u gotta do a quest for.Or is it a job u can choose from the beginning?Thnka you for your time.

Its one of those jobs you choose at the beginning.No quest for it or level.

Umm..no offense but..I think Jei would know, being that he's a level 70 RDM who HAS Phalanx. ^^

LoL, no offense taken. But where did Jei tell me what Phalanx was? I understand that Jei knows basically everything there is to know in FFXI, LoL. But where did he tell me what it was? I was replying to Vissione.

Not to make anyone mad or something, but here www.shadow-dragons.com (http://www.shadow-dragons.com/rmagic.htm) It stands that phalanx Lower enemies physical and magical damage. But what do I know... I haven't played the game yet.

That spell description at shadow-dragons is wrong. Phalanx boosts the user's defense and does nothing to the enemy. =P
