Alright. My goal in FFXI is to eventually be a SMN/whm at max lv, so I got a question about how summons work. If i got WHM/blm (60/30) and got a good party to fight the summons, get them all, then start lving my SMN job up from lv 1, would my summons be stronger when i hit the max lv then if i got them all at SMN lv30 (having had it as a sub-job instead of BLM) and starting lving from there? Cause I heard that summons grow in power along with the summoner. Starting from lv1 and going to max would make them get more exp then lv30 to max, right?

Yes, as you gain levels your summons will have new abilities that will make you "stronger" in a sense. Keep in mind you are more of a support class, and you should know what so you can play your best in parties.

Yeah, but would they be stronger if i had them all at lv1 and started lving then lv30 and started lving when i maxed?

no, they mean that the higher level a summoner is the more abilities a Summon gets.
For example if a level 1 summoner has carbuncle, carbuncle will have the 2 hour ability(Shining Light) and the lvl 1 ability(Healing Ruby), but if a lvl 30 summoner has carbuncle, carbuncle will have Shining Light( 2 hour) , Healing Ruby,Poisen Nail(lvl 5) and Ruby Radiance(lvl 24) abilities unlocked.

wouldnt it kinda be pointless to be a sum/wmg? cuz doesnt the summons have healing spells that a white mage has?

Well not really cause it cost MP every second whenever a summon is out. And it's faster just to cast your healing spells then summon and then heal.
