Well, since there's only one expansion, it is included in the beta, however the expansion is not yet enabled on Cactuar. In other words, you'll have the software on your computer, but the server won't let you access it until they enable it.

This is the first that I have heard of this, I thought that the expansion just wasn't in the beta.
Does anyone know if there is going to be another expansion? I thought that I read something about it but that could have been for EQOA (and knowing EQ it probably was).

I sure hope they do enable it sometime on the beta. :)

Another good thing since the beta has the expansion on it, it means us PC beta testers might not have to buy the game when it releases.

This means no buying the game and saving $50.
However you will still be required to pay the monthly charge when its released.

This is the good thing about many MMORPGs after beta testing them.
I just hope its the same way with FFXI.

Which MMORPG has done this? I've beta tested quite a few and I've had to buy them all come retail. I seriously doubt S-E would allow beta testers 'not' to buy the game.

Especially since so many people are testing.

Hopefully we'll get a discount of some sort, perhaps deducted from the monthly fee? I know secondLife did that and it seems to be working well. It's a great marketing scheme, it got a lot of people who were just playing the game casually during testing to really consider making the commitment.

That would be too unfair though, people couldn't have done anything extra to get, some people just got lucky.

Not sure if it has been mentioned but even though the expansion has not been activated we are still playing something similar to the japanese patched version without expansion. In other words the new areas are not available but jobs taht dont require them are. There are summoners running around on Cactuar at this very moment :)

the most you ever get for beta testing is either an email thanking you for beta testing, or MAYBE a free shirt(highly unlikely). they would never give you discounts of the monthly fees. sometimes they let you keep your characters and they get transfered over to retail, but im pretty sure that wont happen.

well, PS2 Testers are getting a free HDD, but that's Sony's doing, not Squenix.

I'm a bit confused by what everyone's saying about Cactuar's status right now. So...expansion areas aren't available right now, but expansion jobs are?

Just wanted to know, since I'm SO totally gonna get into the GAP Beta....;) yeah right.

Actually you are all wrong, the content is in the installation.

Zilart will only be enabled by the reg codes that activate that content.

FYI: Summoner is an Ex job avaiable to the non expansion folks.
