Alienware seems to be the way to go....that is if you dont want to build. Alienware is pretty cheap now so heres a link. Hope i can help. http://www.alienware.com

If you know enough to build your own computer forget about alienware.

Do like Mithrankittycat said and go too pricewatch.com. I don't know about googlegear.com I haven't used it.
but for about $800 Not icludeing a new monitor, OS, Keyboard and mouse. I built a damn good computer. Here is what it included.
case with 500watt power supply
AMD athlon xp 2800+ 333mhz
Motherboard
512mb 333mhz ddr ram
Soundblaster audigy2
cd-rw
dvd-rom
modem
nic
Radion 9800 128mb

You could probably get the fastest cpu that amd has and have it cost you a bit over $1000 if thats what you wanted. But you deffinatly get more for your money when you build it for yourself.

Now if you wanted a new monitor you can get them as cheap as $69 on pricewatch and a new keyboard and mouse isn't all that much if you really think you need new ones. The only other expenive thing is the OS but you have one on your current computer. So you could use it untill you decided to get XP.

edit:
Oops I forgot to put the hard drive up there. It was an 80gb hard drive....

where do you live? if you live in Canada Ontario you can go to a place called Pacific Mall (it's an asian mall though) However the computer stuff they sell in there is extremely cheap. I got an LCD 19 inch for 400 bucks non used.

DO NOT BUY ALIENWARE they over charge by at LEAST 500 bucks. If you can build it your self I suggest a 2.8ghz athlon Radeon 9800 pro or Geforce4 Ti4600 1gig of DDR ram whatever size HDD you want just make sure its at least 7200rpm. That setup should cost you around 1,000bucks and be able to run FFXI at highest graphics no problem.

Hmm... Heres what I have........

Processor: Athlon 2400+ 2.0GHz (thinking about moving it up a bit kinda slow ;) )

Motherboard: Shuttle AN35N ...... whatever it comes with AGP8x on board lan/video(i wont use nforce2)/sound(which i wont use either)

CDRW: Lite on 52x24x52

DVD: 16x

Hard Drive: MaxtorDiamondMax 120GB 7200RPM Ultra ATA/133

Sound Card: Sound Blaster Audigy Gamer 2 6.1

all for..................................$420.00 and they all have 2nd day free shipping........ This kicks ass!!

Anyway is their something im missing I can't really think at the moment. Don't even bother metioning the video card i have one in mind but not willing to add 500 dollars to the price.

I live in Quebec, Canada. Is there a good online shop like newegg.com in Canada? Newegg doesnt ship here, or US shops that do it is for 60$US. I hate shipping cost.

Its simple, I need an ASUS P4P800 motherboard and an Intel 2.4Ghz with 800FSB CPU. Thats not too difficult to find, no?

If u buy 256mb, u wont use them! 128mb is enough, believe me.
