Is there anymore things to do other than make ur character stronger cause it kinda gets boring after a while?
Are you playing the import??
edit NM I just saw your server

man you wine alot ;P
well there are quests and shi... stuff you can do. But really MMORPG's are about leveling and getting stronger while getting to know people.
This isnt a story driven game. You have to be self-motavated to become great in MMORPG's. It's simply the type of game that it is.
so suck it up and go test... or send your kit and ps2 to me (we will switch ps2's)

They have a point, MMORPG's are usually all about leveling up. I haven't reached my leveling blues yet, but I'm not lvl 30 yet :P
Maybe a week off playing something else might help you get back into the swing of things. That usually works for me :)
Maybe I can catch up in a wekk and we could group :D

Not to mention money costs >< Angelheart sighs dejectedly I owe 6.5 k accumulatively >< I owe 1.5k to genrou and 5k to another person I need to pay them back while keeping enough money for myself >< NEED GIL!!! So hard to find >< I can kinda solo now making monsters kill each other but that's slow money any ideas how to get rich fast?

Try leaving the game alone for a bit if you are bored. If you're getting advanced jobs already, you may be playing it too much.
Alternatively, try doing some quests and missions. What rank are you? If you are level 30+ and there are a bunch of you at the same level, try getting to Rank 5. You should enjoy the challenge!!!

If you get a thief to lvl 10 you can use it as a sub to any class to increase gil drops and item drops. Best money I've made is off quadavs in palborough mines. For me (with low charisma) the sheilds they drop sell for 107gil and the backplates sell for 126gil. With a high enough main, you could rip through the place almost naked and have like 25+ slots open for loot.
I would take a weapon, sheild (if you have a job that can use one), and two or three of your highest ac peices of equipment. Just kill stuff ont he first floor and when you are full, run back to bastok for selling :)

OOOOO good plan O_o
Either that or slaughter the higher level orcs like grunts and neckchoppers in Gelsba Outpost they ocasionally drop scale armor which some newer peeps will buy for like 1000+

man this is what i'm tired of. People who didnt import FFXI and were whining because they couldnt play, were all like "yeah, i'm gonna be the best! I'm gonna play the game all the time" blah blah blah, I just knew this would happen. People getting it the game, and getting bored with it already cause some of it is alot of the same stuff. They should have expected this! I just knew that newbs to this type of gaming would be bored with it only after a short time. Why do you think so many people spend so much time on this game? Sometimes it isnt always by choice, it's just that things do take a long time to do in FFXI! But we still love it anyway. There are always things to look forward to. Places to go, new monsters to kill, new missions to do. The armor you get to rant about once you get =)~
Also though, having been on the beta server, I have a hard time enjoying myself on there, because it is a new server, and the economy stinks. It's hard to even earn money for yourself at this point in the game it seems like.

This is what mmorpgs are about some times. There are always ruts that you have to get by before the fun factor increases. This isn't a game where you can just sit down one day and beat it. Its gonna take some so suck it up god damnit.

If you think the money is bad now just wait. Eventualy cactuar will straiten itself out.
However after beta is over you'll have a bit of the same problems on any new servers. They are starting some servers for the US correct? If you get onto one of the 'japanese' severs ie ones that have been up and running all along well you'll still run into some cash problems when you start a new charater.
Those however will be easier to solve. Just wait untill beta is over and you have a bunch of new computer users running around trying to find cash, get exp and not die. Then the computer users will get to experiance the same thing when the PS2 version comes online in 2004.
I don't know really.... but its something to look forward too.
I'm going back to think about importing the game now.... If I order it now it still may arrive before I get a beta......

yeah with a fully functioning in game economy, it is much easier to make gil at the lower levels--the flip side being that gil is always a pain to get. Level 15 thief sub is always helpful. I would recommend coffer hunting in giddeus/palborough/yughott as those treasure chests can drop 900-1200 gil.

There are so many things to so in FFXI. Just like Ockman said, Places to go, Monsters to kill, quests to do and being patriotic to your country. But this is only the beta, so not many people are gonna be on it and of course the econmys gonna suck cos of it.
And if you're like 30+ and doing advanced jobs then getting bored of it, then you're obviously playing the game a little TOO DAMN MUCH.
Try giving your eyes a rest (from the constant staring at the screen/moniter) and do something else, like sleeping, eating, watching TV, hanging with your buds and buying new games XP.
I ALWAYS do that when i'm getting bored of a mmog (off-line games...well thats a different story) cos then after a while, like taking a nap, i'll jump to my computer and start playing quicker then you can say "i'm bored" .
Now, if you exuese me, i have some chicken wings with my saliva and name on it.
Bored of the Beta?! What?! Playing Beta brought huge conflict into my life. What to do when I get home... Level the 50 Thief to 65 (soon 70)? Or become the most hardcore player on Cactaur. Honestly, I'm loving Beta more than the Import right now.
Number one. Enjoy the experience of being on a new server. The game is 200% different on a new server than an old one. This makes it exciting for me... I've never seen the beastmen own 10 territories at once. lol
Number two. Everyone speaks English, and everyone was selected to enter Beta. Yesterday was my first day on Open Beta, I met another person, whom it was their first day too. We must have talked for like two hours straight. And you can meet cool people anywhere on Beta, whereas English speakers are a little, (not much) harder to come by on the import version. But also, almost everyone you meet in Beta will be starting out, so there's a closeness there, and they'll always be around you.
And... it's ENGLISH! There's a storyline now. lol That's just thrilling in itself. I did a mission without a guide yesterday... because I could understand it. ;) I know probably all of what I just said doesn't apply to you... but think about it. It's a very indepth game, and there's alot to do. Just start talking to random NPC's and do a quest if you're bored, I dunno. They usually give you some pretty good rewards, for starting out.
And I guess... There's always Tetra Master. ;)

lol ultima =P CANADIAN CHICKEN WINGS!!!!!!!!1111 =P
anyways, roll-chan, if you are getting bored of levelling, try using a different job.. white mage cant be that fun to level up, since the purpose of the white mage is to heal =P so, try a different job for a while, maybe sub white mage for a bit.. and also try other things suggested here; there were some pretty good ideas :) man, if i had beta... gralhggggggggg...

If all you try to do is play 10 hours a day and level and get bored this fast then your not cut out for an MMORPG. Theres so many more things to do besides level. Quests, Party, Help others, Tradeskills, Raising alts what have you.
If your a powergamer ( and your not I assure you) then you would not be bored.
As for the economy and your money woes, welcome to a server with relative low population and not much money overall on it currently.

does no one do any guilding in this game? (called crafting in most mmorpgs) I mean, you can make weapons and armor, and sell them to players right? get some money that way for sure.

heh, yeah I get bored much during this Beta period, but I jus turn it off, watch a movie, or go do something. And if i turn it on, and a friends online, i jus chat wit em, usually jus ride offd that...
Yeah I'm only lvl 18 but i already got the blues...
But I can't complain, I had some great times during this trial period, like making fun of Cybersharkx's mom, lol :) !!!!
ahhh... I probably haven't played as long as you have, but man, lvl 30?? whats your total play-time, like 10 days, my total play-time is only 5 days and 20 hours, i really dont remember the minutes, but man, I either pity you, or are very jealous!!
Both as we speak, but as of the moment i can't talk, i'm at a weak lvl, lol

How about you go check for bugs. You said you knew the point of a beta so why don't you go do it. Or level up more to get your RSE, that would keep you busy for a while. Or try to get to level 40 so you can get your first AF piece. Serioisly stop whining, If I had this I'd complain about having to do too much, level my main, level my subs, make potions and food and stuff in the guilds, get my RSE, get a bunch of spells, level thief to go treasure hunting, to say briefly there is too much to do in one day.

Here is my take on the whole thing. If it was easy to level then it wouldnt be fun. If it was easy then everyone would be level 65 and nothing would be fun. There would be no sense of "yes i made it to level 65." bc everyone is lv 65. Also if you are getting bored then just find a ls. Sometimes i go on feeling bumbed bc i cant find a pt on the japanese servers for five days but my ls members make it fun while I wait. Its like a chat room in the game.

i dont mind leveling i hate quests (like in some games)that give hella XP but are like impossible for most people to get through alive becaue i always die. leveling isnt a problem because you can throw on some music or watch tv and chat while you do it so you can take you mind off it. and as i white mage you can really play halfed ass all you yhave to do is watch the life menu while like listening to music. well that what i would do if i could ever getr my stupid import workingthats why im going to make a BS character in import(not a crappy character just one thats class doesnt hella interest me because i will probably lose interest and not want to play after with her after the NA comes out. also for you importers i dont want to keep my fake name when the NA version comes out is there any way we will be able to fix it to are proper names later?

You have the game...
...In English. Yet you still can't find anything else to do besides level up. I don't even own a beta kit yet, but from my experience with it, there's plenty more to do besides level up. I'm not even going to suggest any to you except for one: Gil farm and pay back the people you owe. Instead of asking for loans, ask the people how they get their money. Bondelas gets money fast, but I heard about the situation with you, him, and the dagger, so I don't think he'll be helping you anytime soon. Ask around, though.

If I were starting from scratch on a beta server I would 1) get a load of conquest points by levelling all my jobs - 1 to 10 is easy for everything, 2) do more synthesis and fishing, 3) create monopolies on all the rare items via a linkshell called Monopoly :)

I'm getting bored of simply leveling too.. mainly because monks are boring IMO... you just... attack... and....attack.. and BOOST and... attack..... you get it.. that's why i'm trying endure until i get my sub job.. and then i'll switch my main job to a RDM because they are a funner class :)
It's just that the game gets really repetitive and there's a lot of waiting and walking involved.. you have to wait to heal and you have to wait for stuff in PTs and if you don't have a chocobo you have to walk everywhere.. that takes a while :P
Genrou
07-17-2003, 12:31 AM
I've noticed the time traveling goes by a lot faster and is more fun when in groups of 4+. You only have to wait to heal when in lower levels and you have no group and/or White Mage with you. As for waiting for stuff in PTs, I can't even get mad at that. You can't really expect them to make it easy as hell to get an item or items that'll greatly enhance your gameplay. Besides, with the right people in your group, you won't mind it at all. I can't help you with the repedativeness, though. SE has put so much stuff into this game to keep it from being linear and only about leveling that you'd have to be blind not to see past fighting and leveling up.
By the way, Monks are gods. Respect them. ;)

Bards and Summoners are better than monks I think ^_^ Bard is romantic (You will know what I mean if u see the cutscene and hear the song) and summoners are the funnest class ^^

Well looks like you found something to do. But for me the first rule when playing any MMORPG is how to make money. First off I know for a fact that mages don't make a lot of money. In fact the amount of money you have to spend on spells makes them poor. So I wouldn't start out with a mage as my first job. I would go warrior or thief. Most likely warrior, any who if you are bored of lvling then try fishing? Or perhaps goldsmith or something...do some quest to lv your rank up. This also lowers the amount of money you have to spend in some shops if you didn't know that. I plan on making a WHM/BRD but of course that will have to wait...I need to make a character that can support my mage first. Always think ahead. Of course you don't have to do what I suggest but it would make it a whole lot easier if you made a character that could haul in the money rather than begg for money and then owing people money. I hate owing people anything, so I do everything myself. And if you are getting bored of WHM then try changing your job to something else and sub your WHM.

Yes rangers are probably worst off than mages, but that's only because they use arrows and bullets to attack. Mages spells cost a lot of money. -_-; kind of makes me want to re-think the whole WHM/BRD thing, but hey if you got a character that can support your mage then I think it's alright. ^-^ And besides a Brd doesn't have any MP but I guess I will be very popular and lv fast?

people seek whm and brds though. So whm and brds get into a pt quick everytime and get a buncha tells. Rangers are not always that way. Its 6k for 99 bullets and its used up in aobut an hour and a half... So expensive!

I'm pretty sure they do massive amounts of damage, however I don't think its that useful if its draing your income. I think this job also need a character to support with income.

I can't blame you for being bored of leveling and wanting money Rollchan, its boring leveling but in the higher levels its great fun to beable to wander around some of the area's alone and not to worry about one hit wonders :spin:
Gil Farming is the best thing you can do, did advise the bastok mines or low level NM hunting cause you can earn gil fast and easy (depending on your level)
I'll give more advice if ya need it but any importer can tell you how to earn money at low and high levels

Yeah, unfortunately, there have been many on Cactaur who do nothing but level up. Not all the big levellers(?) are like this, but many are. I'm a WHM, level 22 (3rd time tonight and hoping it sticks), rank 3, and always hunting for new quests.
I can't seem to find enough time in the day to do all the things i want to. I have more nm's to hunt (which has left me as being one the most well equipped WHM's at my level or higher, I can't go 5 mins with out being examined). There are always people who need a WHM to help finish missions and quests. There are far to many things i want to synth. Not to mention my pure love of exploring (nothing like finding a back entrance to the Ordelle caves and nabbing a dew drop and not dying. Of course I did have to die once when i took a friend back to get one.)
Gah!......and I only just now started fishing.........
As for money...do some of the monuments, most are worth 1,000 gill and are really easy to get to.
Not enough time at all.......

everyone whos yelling at beta-ers for getting bored of leveling, there are only like 10 people here who feel like that out of the several hundred playing.. its only expected, you know?
I play like 10 hours a day and i spend about 8 of those 10 hours leveling, and i still feel pressed for time ><
theres so much to do and see, shopping, exploring, quests, missions, synthesis, boosting nations rank... its endless O_O!
