Elvaan RDM. alright? terrible?

I have decided that I would like to be a red mage but i also love being an elvaan. if i had to i would switch my race but only if elvaan was absolutely terrible. i want to know how an elvaan red mage compares to the best race for red mage which is hume i would think. thanks

I believe an Elvaan RDM would do fairly well. They have the increased strength for the fighter side of the RDM, and they also do not have horrible magic stats either. I am playing an Elvaan white mage, which is definitely a tougher combination. I do not think that the RDM would rely on MP as much as the WHM, so I am sure it would be quite workable if my character is.

for elvaan? Either warrior,paladin, dark knight, or some kind of tank class.

Also for the low mp, summoner. I wouldn't even summon, just have it for the massive mp gain.

if a Galka can do it, an Elvaan can do even better :biggrin:

If you're Elvaan, try subbing Warrior for a bit. It'll make the most of your extra strength. But at high levels, people really prefer you to sub black mage or white mage because of the extra MP. Etoh raised war, blm and whm for his red mage, but I'm only bothering with blm so far.

Elvaan RDM can do just fine ^-^

The first 10 levels or so, when you're out soloing, go easier for an elvaan than for a hume/mithra/taru. Once you start to PT, you'll largely be doing backup healing for the WHM, or filling in completely for a WHM. In this case, you don't need to have super fantastic MP reserves. Just enough to keep everyone alive.

You'll start to feel the hurt a little bit around level 30 or so, not having as many MP as some of the other races. However, once you hit the 40's and get yourself Refresh, between that and the ablility to convert, RDM has practically limitless MP. Very rarely will you find yourself in a situtation in a PT where you have no choice but to kneel while others are fighting. This goes for ANY race, of course, (except maybe galka haha) ..But elvaans have strengths in other areas as well.

So to sum up..Yes, you'll have less MP. If you can tough it out though, it doesn't make a lot of difference for a RDM. :)
