I've read on these boards that melee characters don't get much use from /WHM (subing White Mage) because resting to regain MP drains the TP that you have stored.

However I'm mainly interested in the teleport spells of the white mage. Is it easy enough to change subs that I could teleport around and then reset my sub to my "adventure" mode rather than "transport" mode?

I'm thinking that I want a thief/monk but thief/whitemage to get around easier.

/whm will help you when you're alone or in a small group without a healer. it's useful yes

in a level up PT however you'll get a real WHM ( or atleast a real mage) so to use /whm or not is really up to you. for me i'll leave the casting to mages and just have fun with my attacking tho :)

Ok, I understand that healing is useful but I'm more interested in the efficiency of teleporting.

Is it easy enough to change subs that I could teleport around and then switch subs to my melee mode?

All of the teleporting spells are either lv 36 (Dem, Holla, Mea), 38 (Rute, Yoto) {EDIT: 40 -> 38, thanks Ced}, or 42 (Vars)...

Therefore, it is impossible to sub WHM for teleporting purposes as of the current lvl cap (65/70)...

if you want to teleport, you'll have to find a mog house/nomad moogle to change your main job, then teleport, then find another one to change your main job back...

adversely, it is VERY useful (if you are a BLM main or just using BLM sub) to use DeZone (lv17) to return to your homepoint...
this will save on tons of time and airship/chocobo costs...

oow so teleporting huh ^^

my idea: use /blm instead :P it's easy enough to find WHM teleporting us already in jeuno. they teleport to all places for like 200 gil. and you cna go to where ever you want hunting for money while waiting for PT call. and you can desion back to jeuno instantly this way.

teleporting away from town is not as comfortable as desioning back home for me :)

I assume that changing subs is just as "difficult" as changing main jobs. That would imply that I would need to go THF/BLM to teleport back to town as needed. I'm thinking that it might not be worth going THF/BLM.
