Main and Sub Classes Qs

ok i'm a little confused on this so im doing a list of questions. hopefully you can answer them for me: :sweat:

1.the dark warrior and the ranger aren't one of the classes you can pick when you start the game?
2.what classes can you pick when making your character
3.when do you get to pick your sub-class?

i'm taking a while stab at it .. sub jobs are picked when you start the game and jobs like darknight are advanced job you can choose those at lv 35...

Not quite, Rylios. You can embark on the quest for a subjob at level 18, and once you complete it, you can sub any class. It will be subbed at the level you have raised it too (for instance, if I'm a WAR lv 60 and have never ever used MNK before, if I sub MNK it'll be Lv1), but no higher than HALF your current main level. You can go on the quests for all the Adv. jobs once you hit Lv 30.

Lostboyz, the six starting classes are just like in FF1 (only different names.) Warrior, Monk, Thief, Black Mage, White Mage, Red Mage.

okay i think i get it. but lets say i want to be a pal/wm. do i pick white mage when i make my character then at 35 i pick paladin for my main class?

Adv jobs aren't pick. You have to complete a quests to obtain them.

You cna't recieve the quests until you reach 30. once 30 go talk to the right NPC for th quests and you can start doing them.

Most warriors I know can't complete the PLD quests at 30. Most of them got PLD at 35 or even 40 because they get killed doing the quest.

PLD WHT .... What do you want to be? A RDM in better armors?

In that case, you'll want a warrior sub ... you won't get accepted into many groups if you can't use Taunt after all ... although I've heard of PLD/WHM being done successfully before. Something about using Curaga to taunt ...

so what i do is pick white mage. when i hit lvl 30 i talk to the quest guy to make my main class a paladin?

you get a quest from an NPC (which becomes available at lvl 30), and if you complete it successfully, you then have the option to change your job to paladin.

sub job quest can be obtained at level 18.

PLD quest can be obtain at level 30.

Normally, PLD can already use white magics. so no need to sub white really.

PLD can level 1-10 on his own without sub white. because PLD can already use cure early in the game.
Other fighter types tho maybe need a sub WHM to level easier from 1 to 10. But from 10 on you will start to join party. so sub WHM isn't needed anymore.

WAR has an ability to "taunt" (or Provocation) which calls the enemy to attack him. PLD naturally has high defense so PLD is perfect for taunting. And every party needs taunter to keep the mages alive.

PLD/WAR is like the only way to go for PLD. I have never seen any PLD with out WAR sub before.
