NA servers.. are they guna be the same or not?

I remember a while back that i heard that the NA servers are going to be the same as the japanese servers.. IE we will all be playing with the japs. Im just wondering if theres been any new developments on this? I'm really hoping we play on the same servers, i dont wanna start over

Heh, I'm not even sure anymore. At first I thought the same thing, but then I keep hearing people there will be NA specific servers. I still think we'll still be using the japanese servers.

I heard that England won't be sharing servers with America/Japan, I hope all the countries are on the same servers.
If England isn't in the same servers as America/Japan, I suppose there'll be a set just for Europe, which'll suck, cos there are so many languages, although it'll gimme a chance to brush up on my French, lol.

No matter where you are you can join any server, but SQUARE is opening up new servers for each new area. These new servers will be less packed and have more speed, meaning that most NA's will opt for the newer, faster servers.

I hear from players that the lag isn't bad no matter on which server you're on. You only notice the lag in very populated areas, like the AH on the Ragnarok server.

Thats not server lag, thats video lag.

I'm with ted on this one, the na version of FFXI will be getting servers in na.

And I can abandon my current character that I have on Ragnarok with no doubt.

I wonder if square would put something in place that would allow users to transfer a character from a japanese server to a NA one, possibly costing a one time charge of gil, or even real money? It wouldn't be all that hard for them to do, the items will be the same, just a different name. And incase they are worried about bringing over high level equipment and making a lot of money, they could strip the items on transfer. That'd let people keep their leveling time at least. But yeah, I'll have no problem making a new character.

dunno if they will do that. FF XI currently already has "for japan use only" on it's box. So something that would benefit importers like that might not exists at all .....

Wait if the servers are going to be the same, wouldn't Square have to increase the amount of people that can be on at the same time? If not the servers would crash the day the NA version is released. That would inconvenience not only the NA people but also the Japanese people.

And ya i still hope the servers are the same, im not spending another 50bucks, and abandoning my character just to start over. Not guna happen:sweat:

It is my belief that the non-importers are just jealous that we're getting and headstart and therefore are being delusional :P
I think it's gonna be the same as when the PC version came out, open up new servers but leave the old ones there. Really there's isn't much lag, and lag has never been the cause of death for me before.
