Hmm July Issue of GI says FFXI is spose to release Oct.9,2003

Gamespot says November 14th, and since they're involved with the beta testing, I hold them most reliable.

Well with my experience they are usually reliable with release dates, but now im not all too sure.

Most places IVe seen are saying early to mid October. Ive seen a couple early novmbers as well. So the frame is prolly something like Oct 1st - Nov 15th or so.

but im not gonna trust any specific dates unless it's straight from Square's website.

Well if I were Square, I'd want to separate FF XI's release from FF X-2's by about a month. Seeing as how X-2 is slated for Nov 3, FF XI will likely fall either a month earlier or a month later than that methinks :P

well, lets just say this...GI is pretty precise with their releases...usually they arent correct on the actual date, they are usually 2-3 days off.

i work at Gamestop and we have 2 like district meetings every year...the shit i learn from corporate is very reliable...i would trust this information, just...maybe not that EXACT date...so...just...say...2nd week of october ~~;

it would be pointless for Squenix to actually care about separating FFXI from FFX-2. They're two different types of games on two different platforms.

If that's how you feel, than you must also object to Squenix releasing X-2 and Crystal Chronicles on the same day, eh? :p

Personally, I think it would be great if they released X-2, CC, XI, and Tactics Advance on the same day. 4 totally different FF games, 4 different platforms, 1 day...*drool*

GM's in game stated the beta will last 3-4 months. So .. it will end around september sometime. Sounds like its setting up for an october release date ;)

speaking of that stupid issue, lmao, can you believe their top 10 games of e3? number 1, half life 2, while some people may agree with that, i want DOOM 3 for PC a hell of alot more than half life 2. Halo 2, i admit will be cool, but is taking too long. Gran Turismo 4 as their number 4 slot (snore...another car racing game...whoop de doo) Fable at number 5...what can i say? NO!! lol Tony hawk's undergroud at number 6 is just complete BS. Okay, that just is, tony hawk games are fine to keep you occupied for a week at the most. okay. Number 7...Metal gear solid 3...while i agree that it belongs on the top ten. WHY THE HELL IS NUMBER 7?! Below games like GT4, and Tony hawk?!?! Bull crap!!!! METAL GEAR SOLID 3 IS GONNA OWN ALL THOSE GAMES!!, The rest I dont really care...I guess what most aggravated me is that metal gear was so low on it! Grr...

and what's worth, on their top ten for each system...final fantasy xi wasnt on the top ten for PC or PS2! WTF?! And yet, everquest 2 was on the top ten for PC....Give me a friggin break. A EVERQUEST GAME WILL NEVER, EVER, EVER EVER EVER IN A MILLION, BILLION YEARS, FOR AS LONG AS HUMANS EXIST, an everquest game will never be better than final fantasy xi! SOE does not know how to make games good enough to even compare themselves to square-enix.

FFXI is set for release in the 4th quarter....of this FISCAL year. The fiscal year ends in either March or May, I can't remember which. The HDD isn't slated for release until January, so I wouldn't count on seeing it released until then.

Remember, next time someone hypes a 4th quarter release, gently remind them that it is the fiscal 4th quarter, not the calander 4th quarter.

You doofnut its 4th qt calader year. the reason the releases are separate is because of sony delayign the HDD. 1st qt next year the ps2 gets there's

Honestly though, Sony reps get things screwed up an awful lot, so its anyones guess to when its coming out. They tell ya one thing, the press release says another.

Are we talking about the PC version ? If so, the beta testing hasn't even started yet so I don't think it will be released in October. It's just too early. My guess is in November before Thanksgiving.:thumbsup:

I remember hearing October soooo much during E3, but I really can't remember if that was the official word from any of the Squenix reps. When I try and look at all the stuff, I can only find "4th Quarter."

Does anyone have any news articles or anything saying the date will in fact be in october? I know I remember hearing it, but I can't remember where it was, I have a horrible memory...

Well considering the fact that games are released on a Tuesday here in NA it can't be released on the 9th. The closest date would be the 7th of October (which seems pretty reasonable) followed by the 14th.

My guess is that FFXI is going to be like every other video game known to man: Until Square says "It's gold, and will be on store shelves in 2 weeks.", there is no release date - just estimates.

Atma is totally right, everyone practicily makes up thier own release dates. Have you BEEN to EB recently? As soon as a game is announced they have a release date for it. The only reason they do so is just so they can allow preorders for it. I remember when I was betaing SWG and everyone was asking about a release date. The devs kept making posts that they had never issued a release date, even though all the magazines and websites seemed to think otherwise. The only release date you can trust, is like Atma said, once it goes gold.

well mdude, games are releasedon tuesdays or thursday, same as DVDs and VHS. this means that a date of oct. 9th is possible, though unlikely due to the fact that 70% of games are released on tuesdays.

i would hate it if it was released in october or november 1st off i already have to buy final fantasy x-2 the guide book and final fantasy crystal chronicles.So after i buy those 3 things $115.Then i would have to go out and buy ff11 so if it does come ou on november or october im waiting till christmas.And Dopplganger most games come out on WEDNESDAY in North America the middle of the week DUH!!!:sweat: :biggrin:
