Question about expansion

Sorry for asking this question again...but can I just play Final Fantasy XI without the Expansion? If so will the game crash alot? Will it crash when I see somethingthat is in the expansion? Sorry for asking all these questions...

You can play FFXI just fine without the expansion installed, but you will be unable to enter Expansion areas (which will prevent you from finishing the DRG/NIN/SAM quests...), you can still pretty much still do everything else...you will actually download a staggering portion of the expansion data through the patching system, so you'll still be able to see Expansion EQ/AF, and what not just fine...

expansion isn't required. you can play and go anywhere available pre-expansion. But you can't go to new zones and can't get the newer jobs.

the expansion and the current patches, which i am told is a large amount of updates, will be included in the NA release
