I dont play the game yet but I do when it hits us shores which i hope is soon. But I was wondering if a Dragoon/Samurai combo, I want to able to tank well plus do dmg and I have loved Dragoons in the FF games. I want all the Dragoon abilities but from what I was reading Samurai is a good class also. So my Question is what are the Pros and Cons to picking a Dragoon/Samurai combo and for Dragoon to be my main class do you have to pick it as your first job or your second? I dont get that part.

well i'm still a noob at this whole thing too,heh but i think you do a quest for your main job(errr well dragoon anyways since it's an adv job) and you do a quest for sub jobs. so you'd have to do a quest to become a dragoon and then do the sub job quest to get samurai as your sub job. Because Dragoon is your main class you'll have all of it's abilities, but i'm not exactly sure what samurai abilites you would get.
If i'm wrong in any of this someone please correct me
Also someone could probably en-lighten him more on the abilities subject :p

I've actually PT'd with a large number of DRG/SAMs...
this is a powerful combination on a strictly offensive front...
despite having a less-than-desired Defense, with the SAM bonus TP generation and the overall power of ryouteyari wepons skills (double/pentathrust/etc) and DRG attacks (Jump series), they play a strong role in doing damage, hopefully without drawing aggro (at least, not with a well-planned hatred management system). The primary issue is their lack of 'tanking' ability...
like monks...when you get hit, you get hit...
Hey but when they do get hit cant they use jump and hopefully the taunters can taunt.

actually, with the lv50 SuperJump, the enemy will actually lose you as a target during your 'flight', so I've seen some DRGs actually use it on rare occasion to avoid getting hit by monster special attacks...
with 10 Jump, and 30 HighJump, you are still a viable target...
so they dont use super jump 4 dmg? just for back up?

oh...
of course they use it for damage...it just also makes a good contingency plan...

meh unfortunately they don't use it for damage. super jump doesn't touch them atol. it's only to get rid of hate and as you said dodge certain special attacks the enemy may perform - it doesn't sound like a great jump ability as it doesn't attack - but believe me it is god to a dragoon who has just done a penta thrust on some poor guy. mondo hate is raised by the strength dragoons have so they need an escape goat.
as far as the dragoon samurai combination. i honestly think it'd be a great combination, however not until your dragoon hits level 60 =\ only when you can sub samurai for the ability silent concentration ( TP charge ) is samurai worth subbing. so i myself if i were going to go for that combo would probably do DRG/WAR or DRG/THF until my dragoon hit level 60 - then sub samurai.

ok so would I do quest to become a Samurai first then do Quest to become a Dragoon then make Samurai my sub or the other way around? and if I get my Samurai to 60 First then Sub it and make Dragoon my main job would that work well?

well it really doesn't matter which you would earn first i guess =\ but say you got your samurai to 60 first ( now keep in mind it takes awhile to get to 60 lol ) and then you level dragoon and sub samurai. your sub will indeed be fully leveld until your dragoon hits level 120 (which currently isn't even available to reach). But i would probably earn dragoon first - sub war or whatever job that was your main from before. get that to around 60 - then level samurai to say 35. that's a lot of work tho.

Super Jump, Monster aggros Pet Dragon
Backstab+Penta Thrust muahahahah
2cnd Escape:
Get aggrod
Fight monster for a little bit
Super Jump, Monster aggros Pet Dragon,

No Dmg, just all the hate the monster has toward you, dissapears. So the monster fights the next person who has the most hate(I use my dragon for bait when no one else is with me ^^) There is an attack animation tho.

won't your dragon die if he constantly gets aggro'd?

Better Delphyne (my wyvern) gets wasted than me :)
She can come back in another 2 hours. My lost exp, on the other hand.....
As for the samurai sub, I haven't been able to test it out personally, but a dragoon may be able to renkei with himself using the awesome TP gaining abilities of the samurai.
With the samurai passive abiliity "store TP", each successful attack gives the dragoon 14 TP, assuming you are using the dragoon-only lances. Without "store TP", each hit gives you 12 TP.
Once you hit about 90 TP, activate the samurai ability "meditation" and then follow that with pentathrust. If all 5 thrusts hit, that should give you 70 TP (14*5) and the meditation might be able to supply you with enough to get to 100. If not, another jump or high jump might do to get you to 100.
If you are quick enough, you might be able to follow this up with another pentathrust or skewer to complete the one man renkei.
Any DRG60/SAM30 out there?

Can a Dragoon/ Sam use a katana in the purple dragoon armor? Oh and can they wear that sam armor with the golden shoulder pads?(What is that armor called anyway?)

Dragoons can only wear armor that dragoons can wear.
Samurai armor is for samurai only.
Your subjob only lends passive and active abilities, along with boosting stats.
