black mage/ bard

i need some help deciding wat guild i should put most of my time into gettin good at, i'm gonna be a black mage/ bard, and i was wonderin wat would be the overall best and most beneficial guild that i could join and get good at, besides culinary or fishing, thanks in advacne;)

I'm not an expert on guilds, so I don't really know what's best ... just go with what you like best.

Also, I don't mean to be a ballbreaker or anything, but I think if youu want black magic and songs you should go Bard/Black Mage and not the other way around. Bard is not as effective as a sub; you can only sing one song at a time as opposed to two if it's the main job. Plus, if you sub it, youu can't equip instruments. Just friendly advice, hope I don't offend :) I know people don't usually like to change their well-laid-out plans for a game like this.

yeah morpheus, i agree with going bard/blm instead of the other way around :thumbsup: . But as for guilds, you really don't need to focus on one right now. Its not that important, as you are never connected to a guild. Just try them all out, and be in the one that you would find the most useful.

Just an advice, black mage sub isn't that useful in PT either. The magic you can use at 1/2 the level of your main job won't do much damage. The only reason of subbing black is to dezone when you're done playing.

Unless you're a white mage or a red mage and you're trying to boost your mp, you don't want to sub black in PT :)

by the time you have enough money to train guild skills, all it benefits you is money and wealth. you spent mone to train it, and you can make money with it once you're expert. But as I said, you may be level 50+ before you have the resources money. and all items you make at that time will be worse then the rare item you can go out and hunt.

except fishing and cooking maybe .... mages can always use good pie and juice ;)

so let me just reiterate wat u said jei, and correct me if i'm wrong: u said that u can really only make money from a guild once u get to a high level and that u could find better items and armor in the game rather than makin them in a guild, but that cookin and fishin are kinda useful

if i were to join the jewelers guild and wanted to make rings or watever, would i be able to find better rings in the game by doing quests or somethin?
also, jei r u an importer?

It all come down to balancing, and I sure whatever combo u choose, there will be benifits/ disadvantages to.
Once you get to some of the higher lvls, it will all work itself out......I hope.

I am just happy that we can have this arguement and have more than 1 job. Being an MMORPG rookie (no flaming plz..lol), I have never heard of this option even being offered.

2 jobs plus a guild....we will be busy.

As far as finding the better rewards from Monsters, than making them, remember, the bartering system is pushed in the game, and making some fine things for trade will be very helpful.

Trade on OK ring for 10 potions (they cost 900 gil a piece I saw)....DONE. or other things along those lines.

hehe i spent 2 whole nights only fishing just to got my skill up from zero to 3 :sweat: the first night was a hell.... 14 hours from 0 to 1

14 hours of fishing!!!!!!!...for one lvl....holy moly.

I can sit in my boat that long to fish, and still catch nothing..lol


Do they offer m80's to fish with??
