Question about opening Bastok Rank 2 Missions

I have done the last rank 1 mission (fetich parts) and I cannot access the new Rank 2 missions. I recall the mission guy saying something about giving crystals to "guards" before I can qualify for the Rank 2 missions, but I am clueless as to who should recieve my crystals. I tried giving a crystal to the mission guy, but he didn't give any indication this was the right course of action.

Anyone have any knowledge of how to qualify for the new missions?

if you open your status menu and choose profile, you'll see your rank point bar. that bar is what determines whether the guard will give you mission or not.

now for quick example, go to bastok market. right at the exit to gustaberg to the left you'll see a "Signet Guard" there. he's the one you normally talk to and ask for signets and trade signet points for items.
you target him, open new menu, choose trade from there and trade him crystals. check your profile back and forth to see how much your bar progress.
