I'm a level 10 thief in the US Beta wandering around Gastok. I've been wondering if someone could post some sort of guide about thieves. Like when we get what skill, what those skills do, good ways to use them, what weapons work well for thieves, etc.

Can anyone do this?

I'm sure you could have looked around on this fine site to find that info.

I did a little looking around and found hints spread here and there, but mostly I was hoping someone who knew this could post one place for thieves to find out, instead of having to wade through tons of posts.

quick thf guide, something that apparently you want, but everyone ignores.

Your going to be pathetically weak till lvl 10. Use a club or sword till lvl 10, because chances are you won't be able to buy a better dagger since regional control is low. Personally I think thieves should use daggers, since you can raises it the highest, and swords/clubs/sythes will be trailing behind what your dagger skill will be. Right now, I can easily outdamage a sword thief of the same lvl with a lvl 12 dagger vs a lvl 18 iron sword. Now that I have a lvl 20 dagger, i'm of course doing way more dmg. Sure you don't hit as hard, but with our dex we hit faster and more accuratly, anyways, that's just my say on the matter, continuing with little guide.

You'll get your first evasion bonus then, and you'll start to relise some of your power(the ability to dodge).

from 10-14 your still going to be pretty weak, but an easy addition to most parties since you still do dmg, even though it's not that great.

Once you hit 15, you get sneak attack, and treasure hunter. You will now be looked for when people want party members. Not as much as a war or a whm, but your up there. if it's down to you and a monk, you'll probably be picked. The key here is you are now a full fledged dmg dealer and t-hunter now. You help kill things: faster, and more efficently. You also help with item drops and gill drops(well you have always helped with gil drops, but now you can push that even more).

After this, you'll be pretty much set as for parties, every few lvls you become better. You'll become more powerful and people who group with you will start remembering your name, because you do loads of dmg. lvl 25 you get more skills, making you a better asset to a party. You will be *the* dmg dealer till the dark knight comes in, and since there are only 2(?) of those in beta right now your pretty much set.

Good Luck :)

nice subjobs for thf are mnk and war depending on situation btw. Monk gives counter at lvl 10, which is just purely awesome, and War gives provoke(you can't take hits so watch out) and later some nice bonae.
