Worldpass Cost

I am waiting till the US release. My friends and I want to play together, but the cost of a worldpass in the first few days scares us.

1) Is it affordable in the beginning? What is a sample worldpass cost?

2) How many people will be able to use a single worldpass number?

You can have 5 people use 1 WP number.

I dont really know the price but i seem to remember something like 400 gil (im not sure on this)

The price of a World Pass depends on how populated the specific server is. The more people there are, the more expensive, and vice versa. On Ragnarok the price of a World Pass is usually between 1000 to 1500 gil.

I'm a little confused on the subject of the world pass. I read that the first character one makes is randomly placed on a server, but by purchasing the world pass at a city on the game, one can choose his server. Inorder to get a world pass you must get it from a city within the game, but to play the game you must first create a character, what sense does that make, considering you want to choose the server to place your first character, but must play the game to get a world pass to choose the server?

In order to get a World Pass you must know people who are actually playing on the server and also willing to purchase one for you. Usually, these people will be friends or online acquaintances who wish to play with you on the same server.

World Passes allow others already on the server to invite you, but you can't really invite yourself.

ok I get it now. According to what people have been saying, te WP seems to run about 1000 gil, now I know in te past FF games that is not alot, but what is it worth in FFXI? In other words, how hard is it to aquire 1000 gil?
