Character Names(plz answer)

I just want to know if everyone has to have a different name in FFXI, or does it go by an account name so 2 people can have the same name, character names are very important to me, and I want to know if im gona have to give my character a crappy name cause someone else already has the one i want.

Well you can't have two of the same names on one server. You can only have a certain about of letters in your name (Forgot how many), no spaces, and just letters no numbers or anything else. and try to pick a name nobody has used yet.

Each character name is authentic per server...
if someone already has it, you will not be able to use it...
also, you may not use the names of NPCs already reserved by SquareEnix...(ex Lion, Cornelia, etc. (you'll learn more about them in the Missions))
