How well would this combo work? I'm thinking a thief/monk until i get to around 35 or so and then switch to Ranger/Thief. I also want to be a Mithra. Would this combo work out ?

Ranger/Theif is a very good combo. With the Theif as your sub job, this will help out the Rangers Gil problem. Which i hope you know Rangers are an very expensive job. Also as a theif as a sub you get an boost in your DEX and AGI stats which are the Rangers main stats. And Mithras make the best of Rangers. So no worry there. I hope what i said is somewhat usefull for you.

hey hey thanks a lot for your answers. I am now 100% my decision. I played a Ranger in EQ up to 56 and got called a GAR (gay ass ranger) for a long time. Only after i left alittle over a year ago did rangers become well rounded. Its nice to see that my favorite series ever showcases how good Rangers really are.

well no one in ffxi will call you a (gay ass ranger) because rangers are like the best damage dealers with there bows and guns. :thumbsup:

hehe, only downside i have read about is the high cost of arrows/bullets, thats why i plan on being a thief til i get close to maxing thief and training ninja to about 35 so just incase i dont like the ranger i could always fall back on it:spin:

yeah thats why i wanna sub thief. I also like the idea of being able to book it if i'm in trouble, backstab is nice too.

hey vagtark you know how you said dex and agi is the rangers main stats i thought dex wasnt that important to rangers?

A couple things:

- DEX is irrelevant to rangers, period.

- Only use WAR as your subjob (and maybe SAM if your level is over 60). Thief sub only gives "ONE" more AGI point than if you're subbing WAR, but yet as a WAR, you get a lot more damage boost abilities (both passive/active) than THF (pretty much none). The only time you sub THF is when you're trying to make money.
