For all those interested in offering your opinion, and those that have been playing for some time (mostly importers)...

What big changes as far as play dynamics, and or friendly/non-friendly interactions do you foresee when this game finally reaches the general NA public? One example... do you think waiting time for PTs will drastically drop when there are many more NA players on?

While PTing with non-fluent players (whether japanese/french/NA/etc) is not difficult it sounds as though it has at least frustrated some.

What changes in general politics do you anticipate?

I dont know if you are new to the boards or not. If you are then welcome if not, you should now by now that this question has been posed multiple times before. Now you have the option of waiting for an answer or refining your question to be unique.
That way folks will know what you are looking for specifically..
Personally I hope that NA players will be as cool as MOST of the japanese players i have met in game .
I dont have alot of hope of meeting you on ramuh since we're pretty full, but if you come, please coem with knowledge of the game and use these forums to help get it. Dont be impatient and post things that can be answered by searching , unfortunately we have people not so nice on these boards, but thats the real world..

<<Personally doesnt have much hope in humanity anymore but ..does hope you ahve a good time in game.. if you can coem to ramuh id be proud to help you ..

actually for me i think it's really hard to say... the game isn't out in USA yet but already I heard a lot of bad reputation about importers in some servers already. and my impression about USA online gamers I got from other games aren't so nice.

foreighner in FF XI i've met so far however are pretty nice....

First off thank you both for the response.

I AM newer to these boards, and i tried to do my homework on this particular question before posting, as i have seen what happens when members post either in the wrong board, or without checking to see they are not "re-posting". Most of what i found was more of an opinion on the CURRENT relations between players. I was more interested in what players thought would CHANGE when it is released in the states (both PC and PS2).

I was actually quite excited to find this site some weeks ago, as it is by FAR the most informative site i have found. And as for your suggestion Taz that i come into the world of FFXI with "knowledge" well i hope to do just that with the help of these boards.

And i can assure you, that though i may be NEWer here i have nothing but respect for the moderators, the game, and the politics. As far as i can see it is one of the most important things to posess in this game (and in MMORPG's in general). I have unfortunately already read more stories about negative interactions between players (AND posters) than i cared to.

I would much rather play with respectful players than immature ones... however inexperience and immaturity are FAR from the same thing.

Thank you.

there's just a certain asian cultural personality that i found works quite well in FF XI. As asian myself I can say we are a lot less individuals than europians or americans.
Don't know how exactly to put that..... hmmm i'll say we don't really want to do anything on our own way as much as americans do. We let our leader decide what to do and we don't really have big arguement when we disagree.
This 1 little thing makes this group oriented base game quite easier to organized IMO.

I also expect players habit to differ a lot from japanese version too.... based on opinions in this boards i found most people willing to wander out on their own and killl stuff for EXP while waiting for party. In contrast, japanese people tend to stay idle in town while waiting for a party call. This will change how party is started a lot.... might be better or worse I can't say at this point.

If you know some story about importers. There's some actions I consider super rude that some importers did. Im not gonna go into that but just to let you know something like that had happenned in a way japanese people would never do.

From what i have heard on these boards there have been QUITE A FEW rude actions taken by many players. Not all it seems by importers, though i will admit that the majority of the negative stories i have read did center around importers.

You brought up a VERY interesting point, i think. The different styles of gaming that different cultures have. You mentioned that , in your opinion, Japanese gamers are much more [patient] when it comes to being in PTs and finding PTs and even your ations while IN a PT. I would wholeheatedly agree that in comparison NA gamers would be much less patient, much MORE apt to want to control everything and venture off on their own with hopes of "showing that party who the BOSS is...".

Personally i hope to find gamers that do not mind showing me the "ropes", and while i plan on starting my game with as much knowledge as i can find, i am SURE that i will not know EVERYTHING. That is when finding caring, and respectful gamers that play the game with "honor" makes all the difference.

Though it is doubtful i hope to see you there someday...

Hey silent glad to se eyou doing your homework
Imnot asian even though i date one :)
BUt jei has a very god point if you look at asain culture
It centers on the success of the group, just watch an anime to see that .
Now Americans are different so is europe ..
Having recently been to japan I must say the vast majority Ive met have been kind and helpful.
BUt every culture has jerks.
Now i will say this Ive met asians in DAOc and anarchy online ..I actually wish AO had a japanese server as id rather play there...

BUt americans on the beta and on live will be in for a shock when this game hits the shelves.. it willnot be an EQ clone nor is it SWG.. the only thing they have in common is rpg and online.
And since you have been really cool in your posts and stuff (does research):)
I offer you a worldpass to ramuh if you so choose.
once the game goes live .
I am a bag holder in 2 of my 6 linkshells 2 foreign and 4 japanese....FFXI is all about relationships....Youll see what I mean ...
SO when you get the LIVE NA gimme a PM and ill worlpass you...got a good feeling on this one ^^

Thank you for your advice once again Tazirai. I sincerely hope to take you up on that WP. Not entirely sure how it works... but give me time and i will know all there is to know about it... among other things.

I am happy to see that you think me respectful, it really is the best way to get information/help/advice. And apparently it doesn't hurt as far as getting a world pass.

Well thank you Tazirai, now all that remains to be seen is whether or not i can get everything i need together to play this beautiful game. Looking at DSL and Dial up services (AND the peripherals i will need...) has me somewhat worried that it may be all too much for my small income. How sad would that be? All this anticipation only to realize that it is beyond my means...

Wish me luck. At least i have time to start saving.

In my experience, i've found many in the asian culture to be egotistic, clannish and almost cloneish in personality. But there are alot more nicer people in asian culture than in american culture. But as someone said..there are jerks (and morons) in all cultures. A good degree of them in every culture. The main difference is that the Americans have a much wider degree of emotions and personality...which makes it seem like Americans are worse than they are. It's individuality.

Actually ...your right, but it's mainly all the newer importers in my opinion. I can name only about 3-5 importers that have been causing trouble which isn't so bad. Before people buy the game they should at least learn alittle Japanese to help both the US and JP players. I think PT rates will drop alittle possibly becuase of the langauge barrier or maybe the Japanese players will just party with themselves and US will do the same.
