Long story short, I talked some RL friends into coming back to FFXI. Problem is, they can't get on Odin. Not surprising, seeing as SE still wants people to GTFO of Odin. I tell people not to go there anyway, but do they listen? Of course not.

So I'm faced with two options. Wait and see if SE is dumb enough to reopen Odin after the 7th or just transfer elsewhere myself.

To be honest, I've not really been that involved with much outside of LBR since I came to Odin. Little to no endgame has been done, so its not like a move would hurt me. I'd still be part of LBR, just on another server.

Still, I'd like to know how Kujata is before making any decisions. I don't have any problems with Odin and would be fine with staying here if I could. I know there's a few DiV members over on Kujata, which is why I brought up the idea of going there with my friends They're on Shiva for now, nice guys, though playing at a more social level for the time being.

Well, for a social level, I've found my old homes of Nova and WyvernLegion on Kujata to be the same as always, but for endgame, I haven't had a chance to check it out. Demo (of Garuda) I hear is still around, but they're not your best bet for endgame (too full of themselves). There's several options: Paragon (my old EGLS, great guys), PurpleReign, TheBlueCrew, JourneysEnd, DistantBeliefs, and more. Endgame isn't crowded, but the shells that are around are extremely well established (been around for years; I've personally seen the histories of just about all of them), and a bit of a balance has been achieved somehow on Kujata. Demo's arrival shook things up for a bit, but they're no more or less successful than any other EGLS here now.

Kujata has its fair share of drama, to be certain, but it's the same stuff you'll find on other servers. If you want a social experience to start off with for your friends, I'm sure Darkhaund and I can give you a welcome to Kujata with Nova while you search out an endgame shell that fits your needs.

Quite a few people in my LS rant pretty often about Demo. I've no idea what these guys did but they must have pissed someone off.

I don't know that the EGLS's are like since due to work and college I don't have time for endgame stuff not called "Nyzul Isle". You're probably going to have to ask others about that.

There's a fair amount of social LS's here- I've been in a few different ones that only go so far as to help folks out with rank missions, ZMs, CoPs, ToAU, etc. I have no idea about the end-game b/c I'm not there yet. Darkhaund has been hitting the XP parties pretty hard since he's returned, I think, so I don't know if maybe he can tell you anything about that.

DH and I have both been grinding away, and I dunno about how 55-60+ operates yet on Kujata these days (my Samurai's 51 atm), DH has been blazing through on his Summoner (and I mean, extremely fast. Almost Bard-like fast), so he can let you know how that is. I've been helping him get through the Bastok Missions, and been planning out how to do the other parts, so we can get him back up to speed since his return. We're currently on the Archlich fight.

I'm not surprised that I'm not the only one with issues with Demo. Honestly, they're not that great or special, they just like to think they are, and enforce their ideas on how things should be done on their members, without the slightest bit of desire to want to listen to them in return. Basically, the members are the property and tools of the leaders, in a nutshell. That's how the leaders see things. The members are mostly braindead mooks that blindly follow orders, thinking if they suck enough dick, they might get a shiny every once in a while, not realizing the leaders are only using them only to further themselves.

If you can't tell, I've no love lost for Demo.

This just about describes 99% of HNM shells on any server. I've been in my fair share of them and there hasn't been a single one that hasn't followed the above guidelines.

There are a few out there, and tbh, they tend to not advertise because they don't want to end up like the Brand Name EGLSs out there. I've been in them, I've seen them exist, and they make everything way better. Hell, it's how I got most of my gear that's endgame, through EGLSs that aren't like the other 99%.

They're also more common than you think.

Once upon a time he an I spent some time in the dunes and Qufim etc. and then he blew right by me- but I've been hitting the XP harder lately and it sounds like I might be catching up a little. I'd love to party with you guys, I know he doesn't F* around when it comes to XP'ing.

I've seen both sides, really. I was a guy who busted ass constantly for people in my EGLS on Titan, helping people get sky, sea, meriting with them when I didn't need to for myself and then one day I'm painted as "self-serving" when all I ever got out of the LS were some CFGs, Seiryu's Kote, Suzaku's Sune-Ates and half of a RNG AF+1 upgrade.

I should note that I was a self-serving bastard, even though no one put a bid on any of those items since there were no RNGs or CORs aside from me and one other. MNKs didn't want the Sune-Ates, nah, too weak for them, they wanted Haidates... you know, which are great for guys that always get tagged in for Chi Blast

Of course, these are the same people that broke my Shadowbinds in critical moments on Gods, people that came unprepared for CoP missions and such. Good stuff.

On the other hand, I have encountered the self-serving and egotistical, even in my brief stint in endgame on Odin. The leader was adamantly opposed to the use of any pet job outside of DRG durning events. Yes, all were shunned except DRG, never thought I'd see that one.

Oh then there's the LS that wouldn't give me a chance because I used to be friends with someone they didn't like who they let free lot on things with absolutely no objections coming from thier side. Yeah, let's not gauge me by actual experience with me or by my skill, let's just associate me with some asshat I used to know whom I haven't spoken with in over half a year. Cheers.

Makes me wonder why I even bother sometimes.

Of course, Odin is still a step up from Titan. Instead of trying to find ways to MPK other LSes, they actually trade off days they'll camp HNMs. I mean, holy shit, are there other servers that do this? People on Titan would drag UFOs on you just to get a shot at stealing a jailer and that's nothing to say of what they'd try in DA.

Last I checked, as of yesterday, DH was 71 SMN.

Yes, Kujata (at least used to when I last bothered to check) trades off HNMs, mainly as a method to try to keep them from the Japanese, which SE promptly responds with "maintenance", if the rank-and-file mooks in most EGLSs are to be believed.

The rest, BBQ, pretty much is a lot of the problem that tends to drive me away from endgame at times, besides the fact I play on mostly Japanese times. But yet, I don't get disheartened, or at least I put in the effort not to, because as I said, you do come across those golden shells that are the perfect blend of everything that makes Baby Jesus giggle and smile.

They never last forever, of course, because they're horribly efficient at getting everybody what they want, and the group devolves back into a social, but for the short time it's an endgame, it restores my faith in the FFXI community.

Well to sum it up there's plenty of people on DiV in Kujata would would be happy to give you a social shell and help out with stuff (myself included). EGLS's however are something you'll probably want to search around for since what might be a dream shell for one person might be like being in the lowest circles of hell for another.
