* Guely's Last Update *


I experienced my first full 18 person alliance last week. I was level 55 and needed to finish the "Over the Top 2" Quest. Which allows you to continue gaining levels until 60.

My first thoughts about it were that is was disorganized. It's difficult to keep 18 people working together well. Everyone seemed to have their own idea on what to do and where to go. After the long wait of
gathering everyone together, our White Mages started casting teleport.




Arriving at our destination we waiting for the few people that were disconnected from the game during the teleport. The area we were in was call Xarcbard. The snowy region north of San d'oria castle. Always snowing and at times storming so badly you can't see more then a few feet in front of you.



Finally regrouping again, we set off to start the Quest. We encountered a few aggressive monsters, nothing too strong. All 18 of us would rush the monster attacking it. You could see it's HP drop rapidly as we were crowded around it. No need for much magic I simply joined in attacking with my two-handed staff.





There were 3 bosses we had to defeat. One by one we traveled to and defeated them. Dealing with the random monsters in between. The bosses were a little difficult. Often they would paralyze everyone at once and the mages would have to scramble to heal themselves so they could continue to cast cure. Only the last boss gave me a good scare when it cast a Group Lightning 2 Spell. Took almost 400 damage from everyone at once. Our White Mages responded quickly with Group Cure Spells and we were fine.













The rules of combat change a lot during a full alliance. A couple of things I noticed were group spells can be used and combos are usually better to done with groups of 2 rather then 3. Also, Magic Bursts were very hard to do with so many different combos at random.

I think a full alliance would work better with a group of people that have been playing together for a while. Grabbing 18 random level 55's just doesn't seem to work well. Even so, our alliance won all 3 boss battles and I am on my way to level 60. ^^


*Since we can play with japanese, if I ever meet Guely I'm going to give him lots of gil as a thank you...maybe we could raise a fund with lots of people and give it to him as a big thank you, well this is it guys. :dead:

What evrr happened to guely he was a oringial fFXI person and he was cool on gamefaqs board. man too bad he ahs no more jourrnals any of you importer seen him

Guely now he plays as an NPC I always see him standing in Giddeus. Looks like he's really busy lately.
