| Junior Member | Kahlzúm - Beginnings of a Galka
Ok, this is my first attempt at a biography for any made up character other than wrestling(lol) so hopefully it doesn't suck TOO bad. Yes I know there can't be any special characters in names such as the ú in Kahlzúm but ya know, whatever. The Story of Kahlzúm Our story begins in the vast city of Bastok and a young Galka by name of Kahlzúm. Kahlzúm's father was a miner in the great city, and often never came home from work. So he decided it was best to hire a caretaker for the young, mischievous boy. Being the kind race that they are, a young Mithra woman ventured all the way from her home in Windurst to earn herself a living. Her name was Ry'shea. Over the years the two became quite good friends and she had often entertained Kahlzúm with stories from her home. She told of the old days of Kazham, stories she heard as a child from her mother, and so it is being passed on. She also told of where she lived before venturing to Bastok, the great Federation of Windurst. The stories enthralled young Kahlzúm, he loved her stories. She spoke of the many Tarutaru's and Mithra roaming the streets. Kahlzúm had never seen a Tarutaru before and was quite interested. Lucky for him, Ry'shea happened to have a picture of her best friends from home, who were Tarutarus. However, as interesting as the Tarutaru stories were, the boy just couldn't get over the grace and swiftness of the Mithra. He spent many a night reading about the stories that were told to him. Stories of the sneaking Thieves, the agile Rangers, and the legends of the silent Ninja. He loved it. One day, as Ry'shea was ending one of her stories about ninjas, Kahlzúm, who at this time was a little older, made a move on the beautiful Mithra. This frightened the lady, and the next day she packed her bags and left the family. This could be stated as the event that started Kahlzúm down his misguided path. Months following the event he felt regected, unwanted, and at times even hated. Paranoia became his fortè. After his intial phase of rejection, he started to feel resentment. Resentment towards everything and everyone. He was often caught stealing from the local stores and mugging people. He became an outcast. All of this was happening unbeknownst to his father and when his father started receiving complaints at work about Kahlzúm's behavior, he came down pretty hard on him. I mean seriously, hard on him. You see, his father was a miner by profession, but back in his glory days he was a member of the Monk society. However, he was banished from that very society for loss of temper. All the temper and rage came back to him as his new name, which he worked so hard for to get, was being smeared by his very own son. A rather harsh beatdown ensued, leaving Kahlzúm unconcious. The next week, after a young male Hume had ridiculed and embarassed him in public, a temper in himself rose. He charged at the Hume and proceeded to pummel him into the ground in the middle of the street. It took 2 Galkan adults to pull him off of the boy. The city could not take the risk anymore. They sent him off, to find another place to call home. And so off he went, with nothing but the shirt on his back. Abondoned, battered, and exiled. Just a young man. As he was walking in no particular direction he remembered the great stories of Ry'shea's hometown. He remembered the stories of friendly Tarutarus and loving Mithra. He remembered all the stories of great Mithran Thieves, Rangers, and Ninjas. And also of powerful Black Mages, tender White Mages, and Do-It-All Red Mages. He knew, where he must go. He knew he had no choice but to go to the great Federation of Windurst and experience it all for himself. The trip was hard and conditions were worse, but he trotted on. Just as he could begin to see the city in the distance, he passed out from all the activity. When he awoke, he was in the care of a small Tarutaru family. One female was wearing a white robe with red designs across the back. The male was wearing a black jacket and a pointed wide-brimmed hat. He instantly recognized the two small creatures. They were the ones from Ry'shea's pictures!! They were obviously White and Black Mages from the customary equipment they had on. The large Galka stumbled his way off of the floor and stood up. He was JUST small enough to fit in the house. The three of them stepped outside into the city of Windurst. It was a sight to behold. Swift Mithras everyone, tiny Tarutarus hustling and bustling everywhere. It was just as Ry'shea had said. This got Kahlzúm thinking and he quickly said... "Where's Ry'shea?" The two Mages looked at eachother with solemn looks on their faces and then turned to stare the Galkan in the eye. |

| Junior Member | Kahlzúm - Part Two
The enormous young man just looked into the Tarutarus' eyes, never blinking. The male spoke up. "How do you know Ry'shea?" "She used to care for me in Bastok, when I was little..." A fire started to burn in the little man's eyes. The female just sat and watched. "THEN IT'S YOUR FAULT!! DAMN YOU!" The small Tarutaru ran back a little ways, and placed his hands in the air, towards Kahlzúm. Little bits of sparks begin to float around his hands and the femal Taru, upon seeing this jumps in front of Kahlzúm, about the size of his boots, and sticks her hands out. "Calm down, Jeru! It's not his fault and you know it! And it's not any of our problem!" "But, but... Hazel!" "Yes, I know full well about Hazel but that's her problem, not ours. She must learn to deal with these things on her own if she is to become what we ourselves never could. If she is to...." The female turns around to face the mighty Galka and begins to explain. "Ah, forgive us. We haven't formally introduced ourselves. He is Jeru, and I am Darliel. As you can see we are Mages by profession. And our daughter is on a mission. You see, our daughter Hazel has been training to become a Summoner. It is a feat that neither Jeru or myself was able to accomplish. She wasn't set to leave home for another year, but when Ry'shea returned from her job, she wanted to leave. She wanted to roam the lands. So, as it would seem, the two left in the middle of the night. With Hazel currently studying white magic and Ry'shea's agile thieving, they felt that they had what it takes to step out. And that brings us to now. What are you doing here?" Kahlzúm had to sit down. Sitting down he was still two or three times the size of the tiny Tarus. He took a look around the city again, and then took a deep breath and told the two about his life in Bastok. Told them of how he was exiled for his behaivor and of the events that happened before. Darliel came over to him in an attempt to comfort him. However, Jeru still wasn't satisfied. "That still doesn't explain why you're here. There are plenty of other cities out there, why this one?" "Because of the stories told to me, by Ry'shea herself. And it's exactly as she explained it to me. Every last detail. Please don't make me go, I promise I won't be any trouble." "Pfft. Hazel could DIE because of you! Because YOU are an idiot. Because YOU went after Ry'shea!" "Jeru..... calm down. It's not his fault. He made a mistake but I can think of a few that you made too, remember? Now help the boy out." "Alright alright. There's a friend of mine, he has a house for rent. It's very spacious to us but might seem a little cramped for you. But you're going to have to make do. You can stay there only as long as you need to. Learn a trade, then become a working man and leave. We can't have you storming around the city frightening the children. They've never seen a Galkan before. I'm surprised you're not already on the Windurst Most Wanted list. Now, we got things to do. The house is just down the street, second turn on the right. Good day, sir." The two Tarutarus headed back inside and left poor Kahlzúm by his lonesome in the middle of the street. He got up and walked away, the directions that Jeru gave him. --TO BE CONTINUED-- Sorry it's not very good this time, but I gotta start a 4 page book report due tomorrow. If i have time later I'll try to put up the next part. If not, look forward to it tomorrow. ![]() *EDIT* TTBM - Sure, he'll fit in perfectly in my next part, so just hold out till then, k? Thank you |

| Junior Member | Kahlzúm - Part Three
Many glances were given to Kahlzúm on his way to his new temporary home. Children Tarutarus were pulled into their homes by their parents, and the Mithra women quickly dashed away. Kahlzúm took his time and admired the scenery. He peered into the magic shops and clothing stores. He saw a fish stand hosted by an elderly Mithra. The magic shop has rolled up scrolls and parchment with labels on them in black, white, and red. All kinds of armor and accessories are in the clothing store window. The fish lady puts up a "Be Back in 5 Minutes" sign up and ducks beneath her cart. Eventually he reaches the second turn on the right, and makes way down that alley. A door is on the side of a building to his left. He rings the doorbell. After a short wait another small Tarutaru answers the door. He looks somewhat elderly... for a Tarutaru. "Yes? What do you want?" "Jeru told me there was a place for rent here. He said I could stay here." "Are you paying?" "I assumed he would..." "Hmm.." The man thinks a while about this. He holds up one finger at Kahlzúm, indicating he needs a moment to think. He closes the door and yells someone's name. Quick footsteps are heard rushing towards the door. After that two voices are talking. The door swings open and the Tarutaru steps aside, inviting the Galkan in. Kahlzúm makes his way into the house and is amazed at what he sees. There are well over 20 people here. The house is much bigger than Jeru had explained to him, and he was very grateful. All the people were in a large room and at this time running around. They all appeared to be kids or teenagers. One, however, was standing alone in a corner, dressed in all black with a pointed weapon hanging across his back. He glanced over at Kahlzúm, then looked away and smirked. Mithras and Tarus were everywhere and the poor Galka stood out like a sore thumb. The elderly man speaks up to Kahlzúm. "Well, this is it. Not so much a house, as a dojo. I take in people from all over Windurst and teach them. I also put a roof over their head." "What do you teach here?" "Whatever the students wish to learn. It is their life, after all." "..." "Your room is just back there. Straight down the hall. But before that, please, tell me of how you got here." Once again Kahlzúm told the story of Bastok and his life there. The man just nodded and seemed to understand. "Indeed that is quite a tale. Forgive me, but class is starting rather shortly. Why don't you have a seat in the back over there." The Galka did as he was told and sat on the floor, along with the other 20 pupils, and awaited eagerly for class. Next to him was the Tarutaru in all black and with a scythe on his back. Kahlzúm looked at him, but then the dojo man started to talk, getting everyone's attention. "Good day class." The entire class, save Kahlzúm and the Taru in black spoke in unison. "Good day Tre." "We have a new pupil here, his name is Kahlzúm. Don't give him a hard time here. He needs our help and we are always here to help. So if I catch anyone trying to start something, they will unfortunately have to take it up with me." The students remained silent and awaited further instruction. "Today we are going to start off with a demonstration by Ensen and myself." At this prompt, Tre and a Mithran woman, apparently Ensen stand face to face. Still facing her, Tre speaks to the class. "Now you guys remember what job I have right?" "Red Mage!" "Yeah, and what about Ensen?" "Ranger!" Ensen was dressed in all green and had a feather on her had. She carried a bow and arrows on her back. In her hand she had a small knife. Tre continues with his performance. "And can any of you start as Rangers?" "No!" Kahlzúm was distraught. Why can't he be a Ranger? "Name all the jobs you can start as." "Warrior, Monk, White Mage, Black Mage, Red Mage, Thief." "And the advanced?" "Ranger, Beast Master, Bard, Dark Knight, Paladin, Samurai, Ninja, Dragoon, Summoner." "Good job. Now watch as Ensen camoflaughes with the scenery." Ensen disappears into the background, catching everyone in awe. She reappears and bows to the class. Tre claps and everyone stands up and stands next to someone else. The Tarutaru next to Kahlzúm ends up being his partner. "The name's Golo. I've been here a while. Where you from?" "Bastok." "Alright. You know what you're going to be?" "Be in what?" "Your job dumbass. Hah. I'm a Dark Knight, but I'm sure you already knew that. People around here are a little scared of me. Ah well. You're goin to be my sparring partner, ok?" "Sure." Tre walks over to the two of them and nods approvingly. "Ok, that will work. Kahlzúm, what job are you going to pursue." "I'd like to be a Ranger." "Ho ho ho, were you not paying attention? You cannot be a Ranger. You have from the basic jobs to choose." "Right, then I guess I'll be a Thief. How long until I'm a Ranger?" "You sure about that? Someone of your...build might be better suited for a more physical job. Maybe a Warrior or a Monk." "No thanks, I'll stick with being a Thief. I'm already good at it." "Of course. Well then, come this way. Wait right there, Golo." The two of them head off, down the hallway into Kahlzúm's new room. The small Tarutaru reaches into a drawer and pulls out a couple of daggers. Apparently Tre had equipment for all shapes and sizes. The daggers were the same size as him! He instructs Kahlzúm to open a drawer and take out the clothes. As he does so Tre walks over to a closet and pulls out a pair of boots, this time, bigger than him. Tre leaves the room and closes the door behind him. Minutes later, out walks Kahlzúm. Dressed in all new apparal, he is hardly recognized. He looks at Tre with a smile on his face. "I'm ready now." --TO BE CONTINUED-- Ok, not a lot of action in this one, and it didn't turn out as good as I had expected. But at least there's stuff to look forward to next time. Nothing beats a good ole' fashioned spar. Plus, there might be another surprise thrown in there somewhere. |

| Junior Member | Kahlzúm - The Adventure Begins
Tre nods his head and walks back up the corridor. Kahlzúm follows a few seconds behind getting ready for his first spar, and his new beginning. When Kahlzúm enters the room, Tre is standing at the front of the class with everyone paying full attention. Kahlzúm returns to the back of the class, next to Golo and listens to the instructions given. "Alright, class. You know what to do. Each of you try a light attack routine to warm up, and after you've all finished that, you may begin to spar. And Golo..... take it easy." Golo just smirks and nods. He turns to Kahlzúm. "I'll go first." Immediately after finishing his sentance he plunges at the mighty Galka and takes his scythe from its place on his back and begins hacking away. Kahlzúm is doing all he can to avoid the sharp blade and with a little luck and some quick movements, he is able to dodge some of them. Sadly, however many he dodge, more had connected. The young beast had tiny cuts and gashes all across his lower abdomen and legs. One had even struck his face. He had no idea how that had happened. Tre watched the whole thing and just shook his head. He walked to the door in which Kahlzúm had entered and opened it up. He stepped halfway out the door and began chanting. Not long after he raised his hand in the air and shot off a small fireball. The fireball exploded in the air and tiny ashes rained down. He walked back in and over to the classroom. He was shocked by what he saw! Kahlzúm was now doing his attack routine going non-stop at the little creature known as Golo. He was hard to hit and moving fast but his own strikes and jabs were getting even faster now. The size of the dagger was the same size as the Tarutaru, one jab could pierce him. And Dark Knights are exactly known for their defense. Kahlzúm took a big step back, then dove headlong into the Golo bringing his daggers down on his opponent's scythe. It was all Golo could do but brace himself. A crash of the weapons echoed through the room and Golo fell to the ground and flew backwards. The wall had stopped his momentum. Golo opened one eye and managed to mutter a few words, in a raspy voice. "Heh. Nice job." The door flew open and Darliel came running in. She ran to the room and looked around. She gasped and ran over to the bleeding Galka and cast a Regen spell on him. She then darted over to the Tarutaru and cast a cure spell on him, and up he got. He walked over to Kahlzúm, who was now sitting down, and leaned against him, nonchalantly. Kahlzúm was the first to speak. "Hey, I'm sorry. I don't know what happened. Guess I just got a little to into it, eh? "Nah. Don't worry about it. We have these things to get us stronger. And what doesn't kill us makes us stronger. So I guess you just made me a whole hell of a lot stronger. "Hm, I guess." The other students are beginning to fight as the conversation continues. "Hey, stay awake tonight. I gotta talk to you." "What for?" "You've got talent. You're the only person here that's ever taken me down, aside from Tre and Ensen." "But then again, I'm the only person that's 10 times your size here." "Haha, yeah I guess. I'm going to hit the sack early, but remember what to do." "Yeah, ok." ***HOURS LATER*** The house is silent and everyone is asleep. Everyone but Kahlzúm, that is. Kahlzúm is fading in and out of conciousness at this point. The night has passed and it is well into the early morning, and still no sign of Golo. Just as he is about to give up and go to sleep, he hears a noise in the house and sits right back up. He looks around but sees no one in the dark house. As he is turning his head a bright flash of light shines from a direction. "Hey." It was Golo. The moon had reflected off of his scythe. Relieved, Kahlzúm sighs. "Hey." "I guess you stayed awake. Good." "Yeah, what can I say? Guess I'm just a little curious why you wanted to meet me." "I'll explain later. Let's go." "Go?? Go where?" "...I'll explain later." Golo walks away and heads towards the front door. As he is leaving the room the moonlight reflects off of his scythe again. Confused, but even more curious, Kahlzúm gets up and sneaks through the hallway and into the training room. He catches up to Golo, who was waiting for him. Golo places his finger over his lips, telling Kahlzúm to be quiet. He does so as the two sneak through the other hallway and quietly open the door. They sneak out of the door and close it quietly. Golo begins to walk away but Kahlzúm grabs him by the shoulder, picks him up, and turns him around. They speak in whispered tones. "Before I go anywhere, you tell me what's going on." "Alright, alright. I'm sick of this place. I've been here for too long already and I have enough skills now to make it on my own. I KNOW I do. And you.... I don't know what it is. You can do it. You can be something more than an outcast. Come on! We could be legends. We could live our own life." "What's wrong with this place? They seem nice enough, and it's not like I have any money to live anywhere else." "We don't need money. There's tons of monsters around the city who are always taking people's money. We could take on a couple of them and have no problem getting some money. Come on! There's nothing to think about." "Where would we go?" "Who cares?!? We'll figure that out later. I need some excitement. And you know if you stay here no one's going to accept you. They'll act nice to you but they'll never give a damn. You know I'm right. So I'm going now. You can either stay here, and live a boring life of mediocracy, or you can join me, and live a fantasy. We'll be heroes." With that Golo walks away. Not knowing what to do, but wanting some excitement, Kahlzúm follows the Tarutaru, as Golo knew he would. He catches up and walks at the same pace as Golo. He turns around and looks at the building again. He drops his head and whispers. "Thanks..." Golo looks up at the Galka, not hearing what he said. "Huh?" "Oh....nothing." The two trot on, and make their way out of the city. Tre is looking out his window and shaking his head. He has seen it all. *EDIT* --TO BE CONTINUED-- (forgot that part. LoL) ----------------------------------------------------------- I was fairly happy with this part. I feel the story picked up a little and even I'm looking forward to what's going to happen next. LoL. I tried to add a simple picture of the area they've been training at but it's not showing up right on my brower. Oh well, leave more to the imagination. Thanks everyone for the support!!!P.S: Ghettotofu - I'll try to work you in but it might not be for a while.... |
