This will be my first MMOG but i don't think i'll bother people that much for help...The game comes with an instruction manual right?

It does, but not that many people read it.:sweat: Since I don't really understand JP, the manual couldn't help me so I had to learn how to play, by well playing. Besides this is a cooperative game anyway, so we're supposed to be helping each other out.

I dun think the game manual says anything more than how to browse the menu, emotion, and chat...

Your best source will be this forum and prolly some tutorial online.. About Renkei (combination), and Magic burst, which takes time to get good at. Also eventually of coz subjob, then adv job, RSE, AF... Blah blah blah... These infos are all online in english here I think.... Just have to search thru.

The manual that came with the beta kit was basically what some menu's are used for and how to attack. There is like one paragraph on crafts and absolutely nothing on some of the more important quests. (Sub job and chocobo)
The online manuals might help in final release but they aren't up for beta testers yet.

If this is what it was like for the Japanese beta testers I have alot of respect for them. Without this site and several helpful people in game I would have been totally lost for alot longer

I guess I'm what you guys would call a 'nOOb' here on the boards, but I've read alot of FFXI stuff on this site and others, and I learn most of what I know from the Journals, so thanks for writing this. Does the beta period sorta mean that a US (and eventually a UK) version are no longer a spec on the horizon?

Final release date for FFXI is scheduled for october 29 (ish) for the PC and early 2004 for PS2
