From Bastok to Jueno to Sandoria (chocobo quest)
Ok, to be able to ride a chocobo in this game, you need to be level 20 or above and do a very annoying quest just to be able to ride a chocobo, but it was worth it! Ok, I just recently reached level 20 off the sands of valkrum (valkrum beaches: http://www.jacsonline.org/ff11/736.jpg ) anyway, after a long time playing ffxi, I am very happy cause now I know I can get a chocobo and MAJOR spell/weapon/weapon upgrades come for a Black Mage at this level as well. So pretty much, now I was on a quest to get to Jueno. But yet again, Jueno is a VERY hard place to get to. All the guides and FAQ’s say that you should go there in a full PT of 6 but then again, I made it to Jueno all by myself at level 8 going the HARD way. It turns out there is actually an easier way to get to Jueno. Now, for the chocobo quest, I had to have 4 Wadi Grasses. The Wadi Grasses can be obtained by some Wadi Hares which are deep inside the Dangruf Wadi<-spelling? (Dangruf Wadi: http://www.jacsonline.org/ff11/185.jpg ) So I go through Wadi for a few minutes. I talk on the NeoGundan linkshell and of course, people always have the answers there for me how to find the Wadi Hares. They guide me to the right place but the area is loaded with Goblins that would kill me in 1 hit. I try to play Solid Snake yet again and I get around a lot of them until I come to a cavern area and there was a stupid goblin right in the way! The only way to the Wadi Hares was past this guy. I did a monster check on him and he checked out to be a little below my level. So I started to cast magic on him to kill him off. Apparently, he started to cast level 21 spells on me (thunder) and I was getting ripped to shreds. I had about 25% of my health left and he had 75%. Then out of no where, another goblin decides to join the fight O_o He starts hitting me and then im like “screw this” and I start to run away. (Sorry, I couldn’t get any pics of these fights because I was too busy running my ass off) They were too good though and they hacked me down So I died and I was level 19 again. My last Home Point was in the Vakrum area again so I decided to do like 5-6 fights to get my exp back up to level 20. Ok, im level 20 again and I decide to go to Bastok.

Me in Bastok:

I overheard on the NeoGundan Linkshell that you could just buy Wadi Grass in the Auction House. I actually tried doing that before I was even level 20 buy I couldn’t find any type of it item that even resembled grass (oh, and I didn’t know Japanese either so that didn’t help) So I asked my friend what the Kanji?? (Japanese Symbols) are for the Wadi grass and a few people told me. I ended up finding them! They were only about 700gil each too! The only problem was that I had no gil on me. I had to have 4 Wadi Grass for the conquest but I only had enough money to buy 2 of them. So now before I can even go to Jueno, I had to do a little Quadav hunting to get some money. If you all don’t know, Amethyst Quadavs (Quadav: http://www.jacsonline.org/ff11/128.jpg) drop shells that are worth 1000-1300 gil each. This was my plan on getting enough money to buy Wadi Grass. The Quadavs drop the shells I would say once every 5 fights. This is probably the best way to get money as such my low level. Ok so im on my way to a place called the Palborugh Mines which is a mine area located in North Gustaburg. So to get there, I start to run through North Gustaburg:

And then I reach the Palborugh Mines:

http://www.jacsonline.org/ff11/881.jpg

Then a NeoGundan member Celeras contacts me. It appears we both just leveled up to level 20 and we both are pursuing to do the chocobo quest in Jueno. He still has about another 10 fights to go until he reaches level 20 and I need to get some money so I can buy some more Wadi Grass. So we decide to meet up in like 20 min once I have my money and when he’s at level 20. Ok, so im in the mines and I start blowing away the Quadavs, I kill them all in 1 hit with my Freeze spell. Like this encounter. I hit a Quadav on the other side of a blockade of rocks on 1 of tunnels. I kill it, then about 30 seconds later, these guys start rushing in….:

Oh gee…..3 Young Quadavs. I wonder what will happen if I use my Group Water spell on them!?

http://www.jacsonline.org/ff11/884.jpg
http://www.jacsonline.org/ff11/885.jpg

That’s what I thought…..BITCHES!!!!

Anyway…..

I got a message from Celeras and he’s telling me to head to his area now because he just leveled up. So I just De-Jon (a black mage spell where I can teleport back to my home point instantly. A luxury no other job has except the white mage but that’s at like level 35 ^^ ) So then I teleport back to Bastok and I start to head outside:

So we decide to meet at the La Theine entrance that is about a good 30 minute run for me. I should have left earlier but I was doing really good getting quadav shells so I didn’t want to give up until I got the go ahead to leave. So I sell the shells at the Auction House and I head through South Gustaburg and then through North Gustaburg. Had to do a little fishing on the way of course ^^

Then I get to the Highlands, im now about 1/2 way to the La Theine entrance:

http://www.jacsonline.org/ff11/888.jpg

Then I start to run through Valkrum, this is really the only part where some monsters can kill me, I was doing pretty good until I ran into a goblin butcher who was hacking away at me pretty good, he was actually my same level and I could of fought it but by the time I got ready to fight it, like 1/3 of my health was already gone so I knew I couldn’t fight it. So anyway, im running through Valkrum with this dude hacking at me from behind, we end up running past a bunch of other goblins. Goblins are aggressive so if they see a goblin chasing me or if im fighting one, they will join in and help out. So to make a long story short, about 5 Goblins were on my ass the whole time >< I end up loosing them because goblins are so stupid, the usually keep running into each other until they are out of my range. So I end up loosing them and im about 10 seconds away from the La Theine entrance. Notice that most of my health is gone:

Then just around the corner, I meet up with Celeras. He has a White Mage sub so he ends up healing me a little but so we could be on our way:

http://www.jacsonline.org/ff11/892.jpg

Ok, so then we are on our way. We end up going through La Thiene:

Then past the cool Creg thingy:

http://www.jacsonline.org/ff11/895.jpg

Then we get to the Jungar Forest:

http://www.jacsonline.org/ff11/896.jpg
http://www.jacsonline.org/ff11/897.jpg

It ends up we ran into a monster called an Orcish Stonechucker. It sorta looks like this ugly mofo here: http://www.jacsonline.org/ff11/697.jpg

Anyway, what makes the orc’s unique from any different monster they won’t give up chasing you until you are dead or zone into another area. They can be COMPLETELY on the other side of the area map and they will still chase you down to your position….. They are pretty good at chasing you too. Some monsters always trip over objects and eventually get out of range but these guys maneuver around any objects pretty much perfectly. So the dude starts to hack away at me. We both start to run towards the Jueno direction and then Celeras decided to make the monster chase him instead of me since he has more armor and I was taking a beating to begin with. So then we split up and them im all alone

http://www.jacsonline.org/ff11/900.jpg
http://www.jacsonline.org/ff11/902.jpg

I end up finding a save point in the forest just incase I died:

http://www.jacsonline.org/ff11/899.jpg

Celeras is like a good 30 seconds ahead of me with the Orc chasing behind him, so then I set off and run into a level 60 Paladin so im pretty safe cause if the monster came after me, the Paladin would either kill it in 1 hit or help cure me since Japanese people are really nice and they always do that sort of thing ^-^

http://www.jacsonline.org/ff11/903.jpg

Ok, we end up making it to the exit and then onto the next set of lands called Batallia. This is the last set of lands we have to go through before we reach Jueno. So we know that we are almost there =D Here is us healing after the orc pretty much chased us for about 15 minutes…..

Then we see some cool monster fight:

http://www.jacsonline.org/ff11/905.jpg

Anyway… We then travel through Batallia. The area is very spread out so we were pretty safe from all the monsters:

Then we reach Jueno!:

http://www.jacsonline.org/ff11/913.jpg
http://www.jacsonline.org/ff11/915.jpg

The place was crowded like it always is. This was the first time Celeras has ever been in Jueno so I decided to show him around a little.

http://www.jacsonline.org/ff11/916.jpg
http://www.jacsonline.org/ff11/917.jpg
http://www.jacsonline.org/ff11/919.jpg

We then run into a hole in the wall that is in Port Jueno. I never actually knew about this place. I didn’t see it the first time I came to Jueno. Anyway, it was a tunnel that led to 1 of the best leveling up spots possible for someone who is around level 20-24. And we will go there soon ^^

So we pretty much just wander around and then I take him to lower Jueno.

http://www.jacsonline.org/ff11/922.jpg
http://www.jacsonline.org/ff11/923.jpg
http://www.jacsonline.org/ff11/924.jpg
http://www.jacsonline.org/ff11/925.jpg
http://www.jacsonline.org/ff11/926.jpg
http://www.jacsonline.org/ff11/927.jpg
http://www.jacsonline.org/ff11/928.jpg

Lower Jueno =’s the most populated area in the whole world. Need proof? Check this list out:

http://www.jacsonline.org/ff11/930.jpg
http://www.jacsonline.org/ff11/931.jpg

Yes, it does say 336 people! Now, this area with 336 people is small! I can run from entrance to exit in less than 30 seconds! And there are over 300 people! O_o;;;

I pretty much buy the last 2 remaining Wadi Greens that I needed at the AH and then it was time for us to do the Chocobo Quest. Now, this quest is one of the most annoying one because it takes a lot of patience. The quest takes 6 Vanadiel days which equal about 3 real hours. O_o So Celeras and I break off and here is me going to the Chocobo stable for the first time to feed it a Wadi Grass:

http://www.jacsonline.org/ff11/933.jpg
http://www.jacsonline.org/ff11/934.jpg

Ok, we have about a good 30 minute way now until the next Vanadiel day so we wander the city a little more. We end up running into a former Neo Gundan member Akoiroth. Now, Akoiroth is practically one of or the only Galkas on the Neo Gundan linkshell since Galkas are probably the least liked race on the game. So, we pretty much run into him and make a little wave for you all ^^

http://www.jacsonline.org/ff11/935.jpg
http://www.jacsonline.org/ff11/936.jpg
http://www.jacsonline.org/ff11/937.jpg
http://www.jacsonline.org/ff11/940.jpg

Ok, we all split off and go our own separate ways from here. A few days pass by and I get really bored and desperate but I keep up with the Chocobo quest by feeding the Chocobo everyday.

Like day 4 (pissed):

http://www.jacsonline.org/ff11/942.jpg
http://www.jacsonline.org/ff11/943.jpg

Probably day 5 (sigh):

Then I ran into the most popular known people on the Ragnarok server, the Tuyus!!!!! If you all don’t know who the Tuyus are, they are probably 3 kids who started 3 Tarutatus. Now, these Tuyus do EVERYTHING together. They fight, walk, run, sleep, ect together. It is almost impossible to see them separated. They now recently added a new member to the family so there are 4 of them now. These guys are popular cause they do stupid acts like these to get peoples attention:

http://www.jacsonline.org/ff11/947.jpg
http://www.jacsonline.org/ff11/948.jpg

I’ll have to admit, they are pretty cute but talk about a stupid way to become popular!? They are very well known and they grab a lot of attention in the game. You’ll know what im talking about a little more down this journal as well….

Here are just a bunch of pics exploring the town, lots of cool armors in them:

http://www.jacsonline.org/ff11/970.jpg
http://www.jacsonline.org/ff11/971.jpg
http://www.jacsonline.org/ff11/972.jpg

Then I meet up with Celeras again. We are both sick of doing the Chocobo quest and we decide to take a little break by leveling up a little bit. Here we are meeting up:

Then we eventually find a party with 4 other Japanese people. You remember that little hole I was telling you about in Port Jueno? Well, we go in there and it leads us here:

http://www.jacsonline.org/ff11/975.jpg
http://www.jacsonline.org/ff11/963.jpg
http://www.jacsonline.org/ff11/976.jpg

http://www.jacsonline.org/ff11/979.jpg
http://www.jacsonline.org/ff11/980.jpg
http://www.jacsonline.org/ff11/981.jpg

O_o Lots of people leveling up here I know. This journal is already long enough so to make things short, we spend a few hours killing monsters, Celeras levels up and then he leaves the game and then I level up and the PT breaks up.

Remember when I told you about how popular the Tuyu’s are? Look what they spurred up when I came back…..

http://www.jacsonline.org/ff11/983.jpg

I head back to Jueno and feed the Chocobo the last Wadi Green:

And walla!

I finally get the Chocobo quest done! :D The cool thing is, on a Chocobo, you can’t get hit on one of them. So pretty much I can walk right up to a monsters face, get pics, and he wont do jack!

First we gotta say goodbye to Jueno ^^:

Here I am traveling through some areas and I show a pic of a cool monster in each one:

Rollandberry Fields:

http://www.jacsonline.org/ff11/986.jpg
http://www.jacsonline.org/ff11/988.jpg
http://www.jacsonline.org/ff11/989.jpg

La Thiene:

http://www.jacsonline.org/ff11/996.jpg

Marshlands:

http://www.jacsonline.org/ff11/1009.jpg
http://www.jacsonline.org/ff11/1011.jpg

(Name too hard to spell out but it’s the area outside of Sandoria)

http://www.jacsonline.org/ff11/1000.jpg

And then I reach Sandoria!

http://www.jacsonline.org/ff11/1003.jpg

If you want some more pics of Sandoria when I went on an earlier trip, check out these pics here:

http://www.jacsonline.org/ff11/683.jpg
http://www.jacsonline.org/ff11/684.jpg
ect, ect, ect. Just keep going until you reach 696

Ah…..the mission is over It took about 8 hours to do the complete quest. It was crazy O_o but worth it! The Chocobo is the most useful thing in the whole entire game. It cuts running around time down by half and trust me, like 3/4 of the time you play this game, you are running around. Thanks for reading. Sorry if there are a lot of pics for all you 56k people but I have no sympathy for you all since your not using what everyone else is using lol, ok, I know some of you have no choice but to be on a 56k. To tell you the truth, im actually stuck on 56k myself for a few months until we get come cable lines hooked up to the new house I moved into o well.

Great journal!

Just wondering, do monsters attack you if you get too close to them? Or when you attack them?
